well i just finished my 5 speed swap and i wanted to know what kind of oil do you guys recomend using. i using 20-50 motor oil but i think its to light.

it should be like 75w-90 and you'll be good. engine oils are too thin but some cars like my accord use motor pili the trans. LOL

im going to go with a no on the s13 ka distribrutor in an s14.

s13 dist. have the coil on the outside where as the s14's have it in the inside.

but heres a link.

hope it helps:

you need the shield that goes between the trans and the engine. Now you can use a auto one except its stops short of covering the lower flywheel area. You can actually bolt on the lower cover plate that was on the auto but again its not ideal.

Ideal is using the manual trans to engine sandwhich plate or backing plate depending on your terminology. Some people actually even call it a dust shield. LOL

As far as the distributor goes it all depends on if you are putting S13 electrical on the s14 KA and if you are doing it with a S14 or S13. If its in a s14 with S14 electrical? No.

If its a S14 engine in a S13 and are using the S13 electrical then yes. Otherwise if you are using s14 electrical as well? No.

S13 and S14 distributors.

S13 Dizzy = External Coil
S14 DIzzy = Internal coil + runs with Crank Angle sensor on top of Tanny

Yes, you can use S13 dizzy on S14 engine with out any issues if the engine is going into an S13 chassis.

YOU NEED it.

And you mean Pilot bearing. Auto and Manual bearings are different. You will need to remove that automatic pilot bearing off of your Engine and replace it with a 5 speed pilot bearing.

In order to remove the auto bearing, you go to autozone and rent:

1. Slide Hammer
2. Pilot bearing puller.

You willl need to leave them a deposit of about $10-20 dollars for each item. Return the tools within 3 days (new rule) and you get your money back (KEEP the reciept).

Installation = Hammer. Tap new bearing in Flush. Simple.

since his pic has an s14 (and assuming thats his car) i think he means putting an s13 dizzy into an s14 engine thats in an s14.

thus, its like drift freak said:

Make sure the gear oil you put in is GL-4 xx-90w and not GL-5 gear oil, that is for differentials.

thanks for your guys input. the s14 in the pic is the one i took off the 5speed from but when i got it it came with an s13 engine runs good works fine but i got a good deal on another one and put the 5 speed stuff on there. but ill just buy an s14 dizzy instead. if any wants it ill sell that shell with everything except the 5speed stuff cuz am using them the body work from the front door to the rear body is in stright shape and its a clean title

Make sure the gear oil you put in is GL-4 xx-90w and not GL-5 gear oil, that is for differentials.

Whatever car you got the gearbox from, go download the FSM for the exact year and model. Look for the maintenance/spec/general information section for the recommended oil viscosity and type and use that exact type.

For 240 it's going to be GL-4 ONLY. Make sure it's not GL-5.
