Due to the popularity and lack of availability of the Xenon front lip for the 1989-1994 240sx, I have decided to make fiberglass recreations of the lip. I have extensive experience in fiberglass and all materials are at my disposal. I am currently in the process of making a flawless mold of the Xenon version.
The only company I can find offering the lip is charging nearly $300 and these fiberglass versions will be only a fraction of that price.

Basically, I would like to assess the potential interest in such a product.

This is not a commercial endeavor.
Mods: I apologize if this is not in the proper location on the forum.

One of the coolest things about the xenon lip is that it is urethane.

x2

Just make a decent looking lip in urethane, people will pay $300+.

sounds good... but if my xenon lip was fiberglass... it wouldnt be on my car today, lol (it would probably sitting in pieces on the second week). The "urethane" part took 60% of my decision

hahah why would anyone want that. urethane is one of the main reasons to why people buy that lip/

90% of why I bought a Xenon was the urethane. I would never put a fiberglass or CF lip on my car. It's not worth it. I scrape my Xenon every time I go in and out of my driveway and don't have to care.

unless you are making new parts at $0.00, you aren't going to be able to make a profit off of 240 owners.

This.

Plus, you're trying to replicate something that's still readily available.

I would say about 90% of the people that decided to go with the Xenon lip was because it's made out of urethane. You can scrape it all you want and it wouldn't crack/explode on you.

Fiberglass lip on a lowered car = no bueno.

It's the same reason why I didn't try selling fiberglass Kouki 180sx lips.

People didn't feel like paying up for a Urethane replica. "Too expensive".

I tried(and failed) with that group buy. So, screw it. Let them have their fiberglass lips.

They'll end up spending more on their fiberglass lips having to repair/repaint/replace it every single time it cracks/explodes than they would have by just going with a Urethane lip to begin with.

lol yep.

It's "too expensive" to do it right the first time.

xenon lips are still available. I put this out on NICO. If you contact Xenon, they will get you one. Tried to get a GB together, but it kept getting deleted by mods. The best they could do was put three to a box and that would cut about 60 bucks off the shipping. if you do the three per box then you can get them for right around 260 shipped. just bought about a year ago.

dunno, but fiberglass lips and carbon fiber lips are good....for parking your car at car shows. :) (been there done that)
