whats up guys, i was building my 14 sr up. I put some eagle rods/je pistons, and mls headgasket. So today i went to start it up and it fired up. But my dumb ass didnt put coolant in it. I had my uncle put coolant in it the day before when we were filling it up with fluids, but the amount he put in wasnt enough. I let it idle for good 15 minutes before i realized it and shut it off. I drained the oil and it came out cloudy-grayish. Is that the headgasket (not sure if it being mls be a factor while overheating?) or could the high temperature/first oil change make it look like that? On top of that after that happened i tried to tighten the ARP headbolts a little bit and the middle one on the intake side was going in somewhat easier than the rest and then just snapped :faint:. So my question is will i need a new engine / just a new head / just a new headgasket/ just a replacement bolt?? If anyone has any experience with that please share, my day has been the shittest day in a while, don need your negative comments

I would say pull the head off and have it inspected to see if the head warped at all. That will also allow you to get the ARP stud out and inspect cylinder walls for damage. Don't panic or give up yet, the head comes off fairly quick and easy. I'd say do a compression test, but you would need all the studs tightened on the head to get an accurate compression test. Since you have the broken stud, I'd just pull it apart and make things easier in the long run. Good luck, keep us updated, hopefully no damage occurred!

thanks for the kind words man, i am just so pissed that it started all nice and just went downhill really quick on something so basic. In case of overheating like that do you think there could be some damage to the block too? Is there a way to check for it yourself or should i not be too worried about it

the block could possibly need decking, but as long as you weren't running the piss out of the motor its not likely you did any damage to the pistons, rings, or cyl walls. When you pull the head you should be able to rotate the crank and look at the cylinders/pistons.
