I've had this polishing compound for a long time, and yesterday I decided to just give it a try,

I used a cheapo orbital polisher with a 10" cotton bonnet, and prolly went at it for about 10-15 min, and here are the results, I'll be waxing the hood once I finish the whole thing, and hope it stays like that for a while. :)

As you can see, I still need to work on the edges, I was just experimenting to see what kind of results I would get.
very nice. Why is that hood in such bad condition?
omgRWDgoodness!

Wow, I'm pretty astounded. It's like one of those "miracle wax" ads that makes the car look like it just got pained, but actually real. I ought to try some of that stuff on my hood, roof, and trunk lid :tweak:

I've had it for about 3 years, and for most of that time the car has been sitting out in the sun, its a Seibon

Nah bruh. People won't be able to see the carbon weave over the fiberglass man.

many carbon hoods just come with the resin and no clear coat. It's HIGHLY suggested that you clear coat the carbon part so the UV rays don't kill it real bad.

rain x window wax also does the same thing.
the sun out here in Arizona kills c/f hoods and plastic headlight.
good write up though and nice pics .

Just pay a professional detailer $50 to polish your entire car with a real buffer. Orbital buffers are only good for removing wax. You need 1800 - 2500 RPMS at least to get a good polish.

polish your head like OP and have it professionally clear coated and itll lsat years...like someone in this thread just said the cf hoods come with a gel coat that doesnt last for shit and the only way to protect the cf is clear coating it

I totally agree with ^^ The Meguiars Ultimate Compound is an amazing product. I have used both the Turtle Wax product and the Meguiars... sticking with the Meguiars.
Hood looks much better though!

I always heard Turtle products to be mid-grade....I'm prolly wrong...that seems to have worked really well...

a couple of things about resin. resin oxidizes pretty quickly and if it is clear it turns into a piss looking yellow color even if its clear or clear as glass is. by using clear coat over protects the the resin from changing. it stops the oxidation. UV light causes it to oxidize and turn into a piss yellow color.

They will always work. Although something else probably would have worked a little bit better.

Friend of mine that has 15 years experience in body work/painting said Turtle Wax products were garbage.
Told me to always pay a little extra and go with Meguiars.
Also started using Meguiars Ultimate compound. Great stuff.
Did this about two years ago:

Someone had rattle canned it trying to bring it back, but failed miserably.
Wet sanded it, buffed, and waxed (using Turtle Wax products).
There was still a ton of swirl marks, but it definitely beat having the faded ass look.
