how much should my ebrake grip in order to "lock up" the rears to get into a drift? If im rolling, clutch in and pull ebrack about 3/4th length - i just slow down but i don't skid. is this how its supposed to be, cause i dont think thats locking up?
I think i need to get my drivers side ebrake shit checked cause it doesn't pop out when i pull ebrake, i dont know why. lol
might need new ebrake boots. mine wont lock anymore either. or try tightening the cables.

1st of all, SEARCH. It's been covered over and over, even on google.
anyways,
if it's an S13, park the car, pull the e-brake up,
there should be a hole under the pole towards the bottom off the the boot.
inside the hole there's a 10mm bolt. tighten it until you have a few millimeters of free play.
you can remove the center console so it's a lot easier. that way you can just tighten the nut wit a wrench instead of a socket while the handle's all the way down.
if that doesn't work, get under the car and check to see if the e-brake lines are connected to the bottom of the rear calipers on both sides.

to the OP.....the FSM states...
1. pull ebrake up
2. loose nut all the way
3. pump brakes to get brakes into the desired position
4. pull 3/4 up
5. tighten nut

buy hydraulic e-brake, install hydraulic e-brake, use the stock e-brake for parking only, problem solved :2c:

stop trying to drag your ebrake for a honda slide.
learn to drift.
You dont even need to lock the tires up to initiate drift, they just need to slow enough while weight transfering to make the car loose its rear tire grip potential.

but sometimes you are lazy and a hydro ebrake makes life 100 times awesomer

Also make sure your calipers aren't siezed. My right rear acts up, my ebrake doesn't lock up either. Which is exactly why I'm buying a hydro just like slow40sx said.
But like Eric Castro said, you don't NEED an ebrake to drift. It just helps in some techniques. I'd only ever use it if I ever had to enter in 3rd. My car doesn't have enough power to use an ebrake, I can't afford to lose the momentum. LOL

and even if you use it, its not a giant full lock.
Its a quick tug on it and thats all you need.
i dont think mine actually ever gets to locking em up on inititations.
Also, if your running "baller" size tires, thats gonna make it alot harder to get it to lock for ya.

yea i dont fully understand either? ive made a run with just clutch kicking and feint's. the ebrake can help control it to a point but its not needed.

I have this problem myself and everyone else is recommending to go hydro also, but then again, I don't really use the e brake to drift as much as I use a clutch kick.

i clutch kick plenty, barely ever pull ebrake when in a parking lot cause i just don't wanna get dependent. i was just asking cause the few times i have tried, nothing happened.

how could i check my calipers arent seized other than them not poping out? my brakes work fine, brand new pads AND rotors - like 1 month old with daily driving - but when i pull the ebrake (did this when replacing) the piston on the driver side didn't pop out at all. i dont know, i wanna get my brakes checked

running 16s so naw, lol, and yeah i noticed quick tugs are more effective, it jolts the car. but still no chance at any sort of locking. the car just slows down like 2mph briefly then goes into a decreasing roll. pathetic :(

If your hitting corners into a hairpin type corner, you need your ebrake
