I was wondering if anyone has the C's shifter? I personally would rather have that style of short shifter due to less noise (B&M), but I don't want OBX cause everyone I hear that has one, has broken it, and had to rig it some way. I don't like to buy things, expecting to have to fix them. I would rather pay more money, and get quality.
If you have an OBX or Pilot shifter I'd like to hear your story too. Lets have 'em.. I would rather not spend the money, but if thats what I HAVE to do then I will.

So B&M is loud?? you have it?
I just got my OBX. It's constructed just like stock but chromed.. so I really dont understand how people brake their obx shifters. No one ever broken their stock shifter. The throw is def. shorter but it's one of those things that you get use to it. So it doesn't feel as short now as my first test drive with it. Also you will have to put more muscles into shifting, it's just not as soft as before. Everything feels like stock (after brakin in) but with less distance and harder to shift.

The quality is all in the construction material. It may look like a stock shifter, but it may be made of substandard metal.
I don't have any experience with either of these shifters, but I have heard of people breaking the DC Sport shifters on hard shifts. I guess some people don't realize that you don't have to shift hard to shift fast.
As for OBX...I don't see them as a high-quality company...I may be wrong about them, but that's what I gather from reading about their products. It could be that they are made from a cheaper aluminum or without a decent hardening process. Who knows.

I don't hear people with pilot shifter that breaks, I was told by a couple of friends that the pilot is a better constructed C's copy. but the obx isnt a big issue, I TRIED breaking my and wasn't able to, so its not a thing to worry about.
I think Chris (Nismo270r) has the C's short shifter, and he has been really happy with his so far.
If you want the best of the best and the most obnoxious, go with B&M <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>. Regardless of the noise, it is still my favorite shifter.

unless somebody show me a picture of a broken obx shifter, I dont believe it. Hardening? maybe on things like drive shafts, not on a shifter that goes back and forth.. hardening may be required if the shifter was made with 1/4 inch in diameter.. but it's thick as ####!

"the shifter has a male/female connection right in
the center of the shaft where the 2 pieces come together. There is a Blue Rubber bushing in this male/female connection. Because of the lower quality
of shifter this bushing is not strong enough to hold the two pieces together."
This is what Ken at enjuku told me. He owns the shifter as well. I don't think he would have said it breaks if it didn't especially since he sells them.
He also said he is pretty sure the OBX and Pilot are made at the same factory in Taiwan.
Does anybody know a way to make the B&M Quiet?? I would love to own this, but down want buzzing in my car when I have chix0rs with me! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

How is the B&M so noisy? Does it click or something? I too want a short shifter, but i was thinking of going with the C's Shifter cause Nismoparts sells it.

The B&M shifter is noisy because it is one piece (at least thats what I remember someone saying). The reason why the other 240SX shifters are in two pieces with a rubber insulater between the them is to prevent the mechanical vibration (buzzing) from being heard and felt by the shifter. Shifters for other cars (like some Hondas) don't need the rubber insulator since the shifter is not directly attached to the transmission (as in the 240SX) but rather attached to a linkage which separates the shifter from the transmission.

I have my doubt on anything made by OBX/Pilot. I too was looking into the C's SS but i can really find it plus the fact that it is over $300 compared to the B&M where i can get for $205.

where are you getting the B&M for 205??

Hech, i would rather have a one piece shifter. I can care less about the buzzing and vibrations....those are what makes a project/sports car fun! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

correct...and honda uses cable linkage. but by the way they feel the cable is thick enough to support a bridge
