I'm completely new to the whole 240/silvia scene. I just bought my first 240, a 97, about a month ago. Already i've got a sr20det swap in progress and i'm looking for some cool body mods. I saw a picture somewhere of somebody that shaved the inner part of their taillights and that looked pretty cool. Does anybody have any info on this? Also i've read somewhere about a 240 model having 2 different types of taillight styles, both with japanese names. Can someone fill me in on the differences between the two? Any info or pictures would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

Ryan

I believe you're thinking of zenki and kouki..literally they mean previous and latter generations respectively. 95 and 96 are "zenki" and 97/98 are "kouki."

95+ 240s aren't named by the style of the taillights alone-zenki differ from the kouki externally by both taillights and front end. As for taillights, the 97+ 240s have yours, and the 95/96 have a different pattern.

The front end on the 97/98 is distinguishable by its meaner appearance (known as "tsuri-me", or shark eyes in english), and more squarish (i would say) looking bumper. The 95/96s have a rounder "yasahii-me" headlights and accompanying bumper.

Not only that, but the 97/98s have a stiffer chassis. 96+ are OBDII.

I've never heard of any mods you can do for the kouki tail-most people are perfectly content with it. As for shaving it-maybe they mean shaving the lines off of it to make it look smooth? There is a panel for the zenki models to replace the center panel. AB-flug made the original, and projectsilvia makes a copy..
