Well I was told to make a build thread so thats what im doing. I hate to call this a build thread because its not technically a "build". more like a project...
It all started a year ago. I was about to turn 15 and was looking for a project car. At first I wanted a 2000 civic and to be one of the few who properly mod one. no flashy kits or spoilers, just proper wheels, coils, and a lip. but...that faded quickly. prices of civics are outrageous and with the 5 grand i had i would be able to do nothing to one i bought. At this time i hardly knew anything about 240s. I used to think it was one of the ugliest cars in nfs underground...along with the ae86. shame on me. Now those are my 2 favorite cars. But i have to say, that game does make them look hideous. Then I started to learn a little more about them. I learned that in tokyo drift his last car is a s15. i never knew that. i also didnt know a model car i bought was a s15 also. it was about 2 years ago and i was contemplating between the s15 and the other just happened to be a s13. funny how that is. anyway so i started reading more about them and got hooked. 240's are like slow sport cars to me. rwd/great handling/tight/and slow. sounded perfect actually. i looked all over craigslist and a month later found one in colombus ohio. my dad and i left Chicago sunday morning, trailered it home, and got back sunday night. woohoo! the car cost me 1100, so i had roughy $3500 to spend after getting it registered and some other things.
on the way home

pretty ugly interior, his goal was to make it all white, mine was to make it back to black

first thing i did was put all sound deadener in.
i used rammat. its fairly cheap but works great

that made the ride alot quieter. first time i started the car it was really wierd. I almost thought it didnt start, but it was just so soft.
well the car cosmetically pretty much looked like shit so i decided to paint it in my garage. it was my first time ever painting a car. I borrowed my uncles compressor and bought a gun and went to work. I chose toyota super white.

now that that was done i needed some rims. couldnt afford baller volks or ssr's so i went with the infamous rota p45r. 17x9+12. i personally love these rims. and dont give a f*** what anyone else thinks. got them for 550 shipped brand new from a guy who never used them.

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr181/s13importuner7/Rims/DSC02220.jpg
got them wrapped in 225/45/17 falken azenis, also painted my calipers and rotors

http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr181/s13importuner7/Rims/DSC02210.jpg
next came new headlights. I wanted hids but seeing that its kind of hard because we all have sealed headlights i got some really bright lights and blue tint to go over them. i dont like the look of the tint when the lights arent on. which is why i'd only put them on pop ups.
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr181/s13importuner7/Headlights/240sx010.jpg

so here i was at stock ride height. holy shit looking back this thing was capabe of offroading...wow
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr181/s13importuner7/Exterior%20Photoshoots/240sx006.jpg
i was real low on money. my 5 grand was gone i believe. so i was living on a weekly check from cutting grass. i got some cheap megan springs and threw them on my stock struts. i also painted my p45r's white. black is way to plaid out, and looked to punk, white looks clean as f***.
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr181/s13importuner7/Exterior%20Photoshoots/my240025.jpg
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr181/s13importuner7/Exterior%20Photoshoots/my240001-3.jpg
i still wasnt happy with the ride height. but untill i could afford coilovers i had to live it.
i really want to get into custom audio and would like to pursue it as my carreer. So i thought i would give it a try and make a custom fiberglass box for my car.
started out by laying masking tap and tinfoil down over the spot where the box would be
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr181/s13importuner7/Audio%20Project/subbox001.jpg
this is so the mold does not stick to the surface
unfortunately theres a large gap between that picture and the one coming up. I didnt take any pictures but basically i laid down fiberglass and resin over the area, pulled it out, cut it to shape, cut rings out of mdf with a router, and held them up where i wanted them with wood dowels.
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr181/s13importuner7/Audio%20Project/audioproject002.jpg
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr181/s13importuner7/Audio%20Project/subbox003.jpg
then wrap stretchy cloth around it to get the shape you want. it really starts to come together now
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr181/s13importuner7/Audio%20Project/subbox004.jpg
once again i forgot to take pictures and only have the finished product
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr181/s13importuner7/Audio%20Project/subbox010.jpg
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr181/s13importuner7/Audio%20Project/subbox007.jpg
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr181/s13importuner7/Audio%20Project/subbox006.jpg
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr181/s13importuner7/Audio%20Project/subbox009.jpg
then i made this platform out of wood and painted the creases to give it a marine look. haha, its a love or hate thing
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr181/s13importuner7/Audio%20Project/audioproject003.jpg
http://i482.photobucket.com/albums/rr181/s13importuner7/Audio%20Project/audioproject006.jpg
that project was alot of fun. i learned a ton doing it. im actually trying to sell the box if anyones interested. i decided to go a different route than putting all my money into audio.

fast forward to december which holds my brithday and christmas in the same week. yay. i told my parents i really wanted new seats so i sold the old aftermarket seats that came in the car for like $200 and got a pair of f1spec seats for $400 shipped for both. yes yes, theyre "knock off" i guess you could say. But for someone who doesnt actually race theyre great seats, i would highly recommend them. they hold me great and theres very little flex. ooo, also covered the door panels and center glove box red

well now my car was lacking only one thing. coilovers. miraculously my neighbor had a job for me. he hit a pole in a parking garage and needed a nasty dent in his qp fixed, and also the front and rear bumper painted. I charged him $600 for labor and supplies. As soon as i finished a bought a set of coilovers from ILoveJDM here on zilvia. we had some complications. he said one front was blown, so i accepted that, but when they arrived i noticed both fronts were blown, and one had a broken piece on it and that made it unusable. So i got that welded for $20. no big deal i guess. i told ilovejdm this but he never responds now. w/e. im over it. he has great trading review, which is why this suprised me. ANYWAY, it worked out, im looking for new fronts in the mean time. and this is where i am currently

i used nason. its fairly cheap and is working great for me. a quart of white paint is like $35. my total was about $400 in paint including primer, primer activator, white paint, reducer, paint activator, clear, clear activator, cups, sticks, strainers, cheap mask. not bad i'd say. the paint is holding up really well. the front bumper still looks great. I hit all the time and its not chipping. only chip i have is i was mountain biking and i leaned my bike up against my car. wind came. shit. the brake lever hit it and i got a nasty chip, i was suprised about that one

BUSHIDO! you dont know me but your car is what inspired me to get p45rs. I've had your pictures saved on my computer forever. your car looks great. about your question though, im not sure what it does. i know its supposed to absorb sound. but how well it does that im not sure. it would have been interesting to drive the car with just the raammat, and then add the ensolite and see if there's a difference. I just bought it because it was so cheap. If I could go back I probably wouldnt do it again. putting in any sound deadener that is. because now if i want to gut it I cant really. theres no way that stuffs coming off.

i do want to say though raammat audio is so good to work with. It's run by one guy who handles everything. And he can work out anything, theres no "im sorry im not permitted to do that". He even gave me the special price when i bought another roll a week later. Great personal service

you should take a video inside the car while motor is running

i wana hear how quiet it is inside or if it makes a lot of noise difference

i bet its more silent inside wen motor is runnin. huh?

i believe i used the old stuff. rammat is good stuff though. its much cheap. i could do 4 layers for the same price of using dynamat. i bought 2 rolls. but i did alot of it. you could manage with one and put it just in important places. I double up in all those spots too. and i have no clue how to make videos or post them on the internet

go back in time and unmold that bodykit and cut those rear quarter panels, its all gonna bite you in the ass later down the road when the body starts cracking and you cant take advantage of the wide fenders.

ha, it already is. the rear bumbers cracked, but you cant really tell. just when you put pressure on it you can see where the crack is. the skirts are still fine, and theres one thin crack in the qp.

how much paint/primer/clear did you use? how much of each?
hmm dont really remember. Well I think i bought a gallon of each. but i had clear and primer left over.

Pretty cool dude. It's good to see a young kid with enough sense to take a beat to eff car and bring it back to life. Most kids around here just wanna buy a cheap 240 and be Mr. drifter king, and then go crash it into a wall. It's awesome to see a kid your age actually taking care of their car, and not abusing it and junk. Madd props on the ride yo', and keep us posted with the updates. I likes.

yea my situation was similiar to yours. It still worked out. But it cost me more and I have an extra blown strut. Also fedex charged me $40 to go through customs which he shouldve paid for because the price was shipped to my doorstep. i guess Canada does suck

so im guessing thats you used the Ensolite IUO peal and stick?
no the stuff i bought you had to spray glue down and lay it on. The stick on would be much easier. I bought mine almost a year ago and they didnt have the new stuff yet.
