Hey guys I have a clicking noise coming from the transmission tunnel area, it doesn't occur when the car is stopped and the frequency increases with speed. IT gets so fast it just sounds like a whirring sounds after around 50 miles. It occurs when the car is moving weather or not the clutch is engaged, but seems less loud when the clutch is disengages and the car is rolling.

I have a SR swap on the way but was hoping to determine if its in the tranny which would be replaced anyways so who cars. Or if its from the drive shaft or diff? It seems to be coming from the transmission area while inside the car, I haven't had a chance to jack her up and listen outside of the car yet. Previous owner did do a ebay clutch install which could also be the culprit, but maybe not since it only occurs when the car is moving.

Its a 93 coupe if it matters.

Kinda sounds like a wheel bearing.Try light swirving left and right to c if the growl goes away and comes back. The way you check wheel bearings is jack up the front.spin the wheel and at the same time grab the coil spring.if the bearing is grinding the vibration will travel up to the coil and you will feel it in your hand.I do this all the time.Thats how i diagnose these at work.make sure both sides are jacked up though.leave the car in neutral and block the rear wheels.

check for a nail/screw in a tire. could also be the driveshaft carrier bushing unless you have a 1-piece.
