Ok, I need help something fierce. Popped a headgasket in my S14's stock ka24de. Replaced the gasket. After assembly it started right up....ran beautifully for like 2sec then died. will not restart. I have checked the valve timing and ignition timing repeatedly. I have wandered the ignition timing up and down with no change at all. the thing doesn't even cough or kick. I am getting injector pulse, and the plugs appear to be firing, albeit a bit weak. If I let it sit for a day, it will kick ONCE then resume the no fire.
For god sake help me....I miss my car.

make sure you are stabbing the distributor properly. if you line up with the mark and then stab, it rotates off the tdc mark and leaves you one or two teeth off. it needs to be on the tdc mark after install.

Not only have I stabbed it correctly, but I have wandered it through the full 360* just to see if I could get a hit anywhere.
I'm really wanting to blame spark here. I know I'm getting injector pulse. I've tested all four injectors. Even if they were firing at the wrong time, the residual fuel would be enough for a hiccup or two. I have compression. The only missing part of the equation is fire.
I'm gonna double check my spark tomorrow.

make sure it's sparking at compression TDC and not exhaust TDC
