so we did an s14 auto to manual trans swap (95 non abs). and cant find a driveshaft to fit. its a stock ka24de, and an s13 manual trans (drilled and tapped for that damn sensor on top of the trans). the auto s14 trans driveshaft won't fit.... s13 manual driveshaft won't fit... the s14 non abs rear half (that was in car when auto) with a s14 manual front half wont fit (just purchase and said it would fit, doesn't)...... what gives? any combination yields a shaft thats ~1" to long.
please help

just a thought, but maybe a S14 non ABS driveshaft?

have the non abs (auto) rear part s14 driveshaft. just got a front s14 manual driveshaft half... bolted together and still doesnt fit. according to everything I have found, only the rear half changes length due to the abs/non abs diff housing. the front half stays constant.
so since I have the auto rear half (from the 95 non abs car thats being converted), and a manual front half from an s14 (supposed to be all the same) it should fit..... but it doesnt....
this isn't my 1st auto to manual swap, but it is the 1st into an s14...... and may be the last as I've never had this issue b4 in s13 chassis after doing 4 of them (s13) without issue

yea I know the front piece changes length (part that stabs into the trans) in terms of auto/manual. I have a s14 manual front piece in the car attached to the non abs s14 rear piece (as it was in the car). its still to long.
(hope that makes sence)

will popping off the dust shield from the trans give me the clearance I need?

are you tryin to install it white the trans is bolted to to the chassis via crossmember...
we had an issue similar to this...so what we did was realease the trans from the crossmember letting it sag...then fit the spline into the trans and slowly jacked it up so we could bolt the lsd side, and slowly jacke dit up into placed...it looked like the tspline wasnt feeding all the way in... when we did what we did, it forced it that extra bit in and it worked...
i dunno...might wanna try it...could possibly work...wither that...or you dont have the right parts...?
pics of the parts, and if u can a measuring tape next to em...
also check the shaft spling for any goo build up, same with ur trans...

i have already bought 2 's14' non abs manual driveshafts, the shaft goes in fully, thats not the issue at all. the issue is the shaft is forced into the tailshaft to the point that its producing metal shavings when the clutch is engaged. for those of you thinking "well hes got the wrong driveshafts, there are different ones for s14's" please re-read my posts and the link in posting #7. I'll get pics and measurements and blah-blah-blah when I get back over to the car in a day or so.
thanks for the help/ideas, as I have worked on MANY MANY 240's (s13) and never been this infuriated over something so retarded that me and 4 other guys can't figure out when we have built complete cars from bare chassis's with no issues, and then this s14 comes along and stops us dead in our tracks becasue of this issue

so i'ma try removing the dust shield from the s13 trans either this evening or tomorrow morning (hopefully). I'll also measure the pieces for shits and giggles.
does the dust shield just 'pop off' [like a press fit kinda thing]? never had to remove one b4.
edit: looks like it comes off with a hammer[thanks search function]. leaving the house to go try this now. I'll report back later

VICTORY!!!!! for now.... the HORID grinding noise is gone. there is a slight 'whiring' noise when engaged, but were gonna drive around town for a few days and make sure it seems fine and doesn't get louder. may just be the used clutch/pp, bad tranny mount, driveshat ballancing, or something worse. time will tell.
FYI: it was the dust shield on the trans, and took visegrips clamped onto it and hitting them with a hammer to get it off. I also took pics of the shafts bought, are they measured u-joint center to center or overall length? and one s14 one had a completely different bolt pattern where they meet, along with larger bolts/nuts (one was 12mm, the other was 14mm) and were NOT interchangable
