Hey, im just wondering if anyone knows where i could pick up a shift knob for an automatic 96 s14. Its base model, so i guess its just a gray one. And what happend was the little button that you push to get out of drive and into what ever, broke off/out. So it still works, but falls out gets lost, its just not fun.

So does anyone know where i could pick one up for a decent price? Or anyone have one??

Please let me know, post here or [email protected]

Thanks a million.

Razo makes automatic shift knobs. i believe some of them also have an overdrive button. i think they are pretty expensive though.

Before doing any of the following, please disconnect the negative from the battery terminal marked -. :)
You can use any auto shift knob. In order to do so, you could use the O/D button already available or purchase your own rocker switch.

You will need to detach the stock one and be careful when removing t as the wires for the O/D are there. Cut the wires and move them aside. On the shifter plate (plastic piece) drill a hole to fit the size of the button you are going to use. Insert your new knob and run the O/D wores under neath the shifter plate and up into the button. It is your standard on/off rocker, so wire and wallah. You have basically customized the movement of the O/D button by maintaining functionality and upgrading your interior.

That was a quick version of a delicate process...:D

Oh, sorry to miss the question. Cheapest place I have seen would be advance or autozone. I got this aluminum finish knob for $15. Even came with the allen wrench to use tighten the hardware. Freaking hot/cold depending on temp though.

Thanks man, so its a pretty basic thing. Its not my car, so i cant look at it, just from memory. But i will install it for her.

Also, the whole shift knob assembly will just come right off right? The two buttons on the front side just get unscrewed, and the whole thing will slide right off... And all that linkages and stuff pertaining to the button (to get it out of park and what ever) will come off with it, and not need to be detached right? An when i put another on all will be fine, im guessing that button linkage will just end up as a pushrod or something. ? I know its a pretty basic thing, but just making sure.

Thanks a lot for your help too.
