I wanted to know if upping the boost to 10-12 psi would need any A/F tuning for the small jump or would it be okay to just turn it up a bit?

I'm running 550cc, maf, fpr, intake plenum, walbro pump, tubular turbo manifold, front mount...but don't wanna throw alot of cash down if I can up it a tiny bit. I will get power fc later when I wanna turn it up even more.

I was told that alot of people turn up the boost on stock motors/ecu/fuel and have no problems since it's only a little so I was wondering if I could do it too !

How many of you guys are running stock turbos or upgraded to a s15 on your sr and have the boost set at 10-15lb without any standalone/piggy back tuning?

Thanks!

Z32 maf? You should be fine to jump up that small amount since you have 550's aswell..Definatly go standalone as soon as you can though.

sounds good! i will be at the dyno this weekend to give it a run to check out my a/f readings with the new boost levels.

would 15psi be too much?

im going to run 12psi...

with 550cc injectors u should b fine at 10psi... but 15 pounds of boost i would suggest getting a ecu or power fc first so u can tune it and it can run properly.(better safe then sry).. If your on a budget n r gonna keep the same set-up for awhile ill suggest sending ur ecu to jim wolf and having them program it for a s15 turbo n ur injectors. It cost about 500 bucks.... But in the long run power fc is the way to go cuz u can always retune it n pretty much run it with any setup ur gonna get

What engine management are you using, since you have 550s?

i bought the car setup with 550, z32 maf, walbro, 7-8psi with s15 bb turbo running on a mapped ecu. not sure what kind...but the a/f readings the last time i went to the dyno were perfect..other than being slightly rich up top.

It literally depends upon if those cells (higher air flow) in the map were tuned....

If the car was only tuned up to some psi, I wouldn't recommend going over that at all.

Find out what kind of ECU you have.

MAF cars can adjust for some differences in airflow, but until you find out how your car is tuned, I wouldn't go over 10-12psi.

You might want to invest in a wideband. It's like $200 and it's cheaper than a used bottom end. Don't buy a standalone unless you really plan on doing serious tuning or if this is a street car. You can do so much more with the money you'll spend. I think sometimes people don't appreciate the man hours nissan put into the stock ecu. In fact someone just posted 400hp on a tuned factory ecu.

In short get the wideband then crank the boost in increments to see for yourself what is safe.
