engine has light knocking,

Damn, how long after the swap did it start knocking?

I would hate to pay and then go home a week later with a crappier engine than stock.

What caused it to start?

Shop doesn't sound that professional, if they give you such a crappy engine =(

to answer all your questions:

the shop is actually very good. best shop in my town.

also, the engine was very healthy.

problem happened on the highway. the oil dip stick popped out resulting in loss of oil. pulled over and got it towed home. next day it was knocking but still very drivable. dont have the time or money to fix it. let me know guys.

i figured, been sitting since it happened. turned it on plus added some fresh oil and it sounded better than before however the noise is still there.
