I need some advice as to what to do with my car...I recently put a post up trying to just sell my 97 240 that was in an accident, and I got quite a bit of interest mostly from people just wanting parts off of it. No one really wanting to buy the whole car that lived near me. I got an estimate and I can get all the parts that I need for the car for like $1800 and I can get it repaired and the whole front end repainted for another $1600. I don't really need the car, I pretty much just bought it because the price was right. If I decide to fix it and sell it what do these cars normally go for? It's an Auto SE with about 84,000. What should I expect to get it for it if it's mint after I get it fixed? I found a place where I can store the car, wether it be in a million pieces, or just hold on to the car till I find another that has been wrecked from the back or the side. I was thinking of buying a salvage with a good front end and throwing it on this car and parting out the rest of the salvage car. Or, should I just save myself the hassle of finding someone who can buy at insurance auctions and part this car out and make some quick cash?? What would you all do? Help me make up my mind

thanks,
Drew

Drew,

It really depends on how badly crashed it is. Will it be a salvage title now? I see some people selling crashed S14 chassi on ebay. It all depends on how "attached" to this car you are, too. I, personally, would put in some money to fix it, if I had it. '97s are a beautiful body style, and you can probably sell one for under $10K once repaired, providing that it wasn't a salvage title. Check www.edmunds.com and visit their appraisal links. They can customize it for you, more or less, and they're pretty accurate. Here's a more direct link to them, if it doesn't work, just go to the main page. Used Car Appraisal - Make Selection (http://www.edmunds.com/tmv/used/index.html?poll_type_1=notype&poll_type_2=notype&poll_choice=poll_sell&tid=tid%3Dedmunds.u.appraisepoll...1.*&Submit2=Begin+the+Appraisal+Process)

Good luck.
