my question is why are salvaged cars cheap on the insurance?i know that salvage cars are cheaper thus have a cheaper rate and is cheaper on the insurance to pay back for any theft-is this true? tell me more because if i can save money on the car and insurane than that would be great. i mean i can fix it and it would be looking great again.

A friend gave me an offer that i can't refuse but it's salvage, what do i do, it's a 89 240sx that had a wreck for 200 bucks, not a bad one but enough to need a front replacement(hood,fenders,bumper,lights,etc..) i was thinking of a silvia conversion or a s14 conversion from the local junkyard that i can get for maybe 500 bucks?

what about police impounds and repos?

Salvaged car has a lower rate because most companies will not provide full coverage on the car. In my state (VA) I believe you can only get the minimum which is liablity. The disadvantage of a salvage car is no full coverage, no trade-in value and HARD to resale.

But if the car is fine and you LOVE it...I say go for it.
