View Full Version : APEXI SAFC to SAFC II help!!!

I have the Apexi SAFC installed in my car now. Apparently it fried, so I bought an SAFC II and now I need help hooking it up. I got on Apexi's website and unfortunately can't find the real differences between the two. I was hoping I could simply plug the SAFC II into the SAFC's little pigtail, but the SAFC II has 2 more pins. I could simply rewire it according to Apexi's instructions IF I had an SR computer running my SR, but I dont. I have a KA computer running my SR20, so the pinouts are different. I guess my biggest question is, does anyone have this same setup? Or can anyone tell me what the extra two wires are for on the SAFC II?

Use a FSM or search for a pinout to determine the correct pins.
Cut white MAF wire
White wire - white wire - MAF Signal Input from MAF
Yellow wire - white wire - MAF Signal Output to ECU
----
Grey wire - white wire - TPS
Purple wire - white wire - Knock Sensor
Green wire - yellow/red wire - Tach Signal
Red wire - black/white wire - Power
Black wire - black wire - Ground (Further from ECU 1cm from brown SAFC wire)
Brown wire - black wire - Ground (closer to ECU 1cm from black SAFC wire)

Cool info, and I gathered most of this on apexis site, my problem is that I don't have the pinout for the ka computer because apexi only has the jdm motors listed (the sr). Where is the FSM manual on here?

just to update this thread incase it's searched by someone else...
http://apexi-usa.com/content/pdf6135.pdf shows the wire colors and their meanings for the SAFC I
They are IDENTICAL to the SAFC II with the exception of the addition of the purple wire on the SAFC II. The purple wire is for the knock sensor, so get a pinout for your ecu and find the wire for the ECU to knock sensor, and simply splice it in.
xpertsnowcarver's post is right on cue with which wires go where, and since I compared it to the SAFC I's diagram on Apexi's website, the SAFC II uses identical setup, meaning if you're like me, and simply changing from the first version to the second, it is a breeze!!!
