Friends who were going to come over arent coming until tonight, but I was to anxious to wait, so I Attempted to take out the KA myself using info I found thru the precious search link & print outs from (all obtained months ago) Thanks Zilvia :)

After I unbolted the downpipe, front engine mounts, removed (auto)shifter, supported tranny and removed the mounts / cross member (also disconected sensor from tranny to exhaust pipe)

I hooked up the hoist:

Lifted off motor mounts:

At around 3am I had it out and safe on the floor so I took this dorky pic to show some people hahah, was pretty darn proud of my work :D :

Thanks a bunch.

my couple friends came by today and didnt have anything to do wince I took my motor out myself last night hahah had them cleaning my engine bay and moving the motor onto a crate...

Waiting for my fuel pump ($95 shipped on ebay) downpipe, and need to find my manual swap parts...

Ill post some update pics soon

EDIT: My valve cover was painted... lol the bottom half of the motor is black ! =p oil pan gasket ? hehe

Some updates on the swap - I finished preping the SR (inspected parts, changed some gaskets & re-sealed oil pan...) torqued up everything to spec.

Meanwhile I Painted my engine bay with high temp paint / clear coat:

After:

Got my fuel pump and Z32 filter as well as everything I need for the Manual conversion

Got a nifty shifter:

And ofcourse -

I did have a problem with my stock mounts, I couldnt get the SR to line up! finally I removed the under bolt on my left side mount, droppped SR in with some guiding & so far so good. It was pretty rough, I still have to tap & slide the mount into its propper place but it got late and im beat from a concert... *wonders if I should even be using USDM mounts*

with the money I save from doing install and wiring myself I can afford some goodies. planning on a Koyo Radiator and a full FMIC kit :D Good stuff, having a blast.. anyways, ill post more updates

IIRC the s14a is the 97-98 and what you have is a s14. either way, good luck, and hopefully ill have my stuff started in october.

Yep its an S14 SR, do you mean the VTC hump?

Paint the bay wasnt hard, I had to remove everything accept my AC lines and brake lines which I masked. I figured it would be easier / clean + I have to install my Clutch assemly & Master cylinder... realized my damn auto tranny sensors dont work on the sr one, so no speed / neutral / reverse sensor swap for now i suppose

So the USDM ones arent compatible... they mount seems to be off about an inch (in width) it was a bitch

Yep, got some 1200 degree can paint @ NAPA. Then I also picked up a can some clear engine paint... Its cool cause everything wipes right off (dirt)
