Ok, I know there are 1,000 threads on this but I really didn't find what i was looking for.

I found a "How-To" guide which is very informative but just had a question.

Could I just remove the one guide @ the top of the motor (pictured below) or do the other guides need to come out @ the same time.

Remove that one and put it back together. Run it and see. It will MOST LIKEY repair it for awhile. It will come back (happened with all four engines in my cars). I believe Nissan updated the guides (lower and upper) to metal instead of plastic but not positive of this due to not replacing the guides/chain yet. Nissan also wants the upper guide removed and not installed.

Also, if you get to the lower guide, the oil pan has to come off due to the oil pump pick pu tube is bolted to it. Good luck.

I think nissan did that for the sr20, he's talking about a KA. You can take that guide out that you have circled, should stop the rattling.

Its a KA? WOW! Thought I was looking at a 3MZ-FE.

He can take the guide off thats circled, it will still eventually rattle. Wanna hear mine? And trust me, its maintained religously. I know about the SR update, but I'm sure there was a TSB or something about the KA rattle, I was looking at the thread a couple weeks ago.
