ok i finally got the cash to fork over for a aftermarket lsd. i plan on going with kaaz because of price and u.s. support. anyway, any word on the kaaz for the open diff using stock output shafts. i see these advertised but something seems fishy. does kaaz offer this lsd 2 or 1.5 way and does anyone know where to get it. the savings by not needing lsd outputs is to appealing

You need two output shafts at about 150 a piece, and the diff comes in 2 way or 1.5 way flavor. The output shafts are in high demand, I don't know what the wait is, but I heard it was on backorder at nissan.

im speaking of the new kaaz lsd. designed to use the open diff output shafts. phase2 is listed to have them soon i will be emailing them. i have been hearing about it off and on for the last few months, i still dont think that it is available to buy.

its old 'technology'

ATS has had a unit like that for a long time.

check out the ATS usa website.

yes i understand it is the same technology concerning the diff itself. i was under the impression this lsd could utilize the open diff shafts hence no need for vlsd shafts. Digital Racer (http://www.digitalracer.com/catalog/category_product_detail.asp?pid=6411) and Phase2 (http://www.phase2motortrend.com/kaaz15waylsd.html) are a couple places i seen. are those two links not for the same lsd?

no numbnuts (dont be serious first of all)
the way of using the open diff sideshafts is old 'technology' ATS already ahs a unit that does that (ATS unit is a DIRECT drop in for open diff, no new output shafts required)
the new kaaz also has more plate iirc. i think 12 now? i forget
i'd still take the tomei units or nismo SSS over the kaaz. without a doubt. or the ATS cf LSD..mmmmm

so you're saying that the difference between the lsd that is compatible with open diff shafts and the lsd that is compatible w/ lsd output shafts is that the one that works w/ open diff shafts has less discs than the ones that have vlsd shafts.

you should "define" "old 'technology'" better.

since not everyone has a background on products. this is zilvia afterall.

haha yes yes sorry

i was dumb and thought

DIRECT drop in for open diff, no new output shafts required

that was clear enough

Just spoke to Kaaz USA. The new LSD is a direct drop in for the open diff USDM S13's. Kaaz USA should have them by the 9th or 10th of July and the new LSD is a 20 pack unit (clutch plates). Pretty nice unit.:boink:

In terms of price there will be a special introductory price, somewhere between 850-900.

Deftforce is an LSD made by ATS especially for drifting, apparantley very high initial torque. I wasn't aware of Deftforce parts, I just like the word. Why do you care anyway?

yeah im curious too. you put it in your sig, so does that mean you have it? last time i heard you were still hunting for a LSD. good luck. i suggest the SSS haha...

ATS is a great compnay. almost got one...i know a guy who works w/ ATS USA :) but i had already ordered my NISMO at that point i found out oh well!

why would you want a deftforce. a lsd doesnt make a drifter or not, its about the driver. should get some practice first anyways.

my SSS has very high intial torque too...just have to adjust it. :) right now its on the softer setting (great for daily driving). going to full hardest (basically a locked diff w/ some slip) next weekend.

Hey Aaron did I say I was going to get a deftforce? Did I say I have a Deftforce? I like the word, just a little something I picked up while researching. READ my fuc*ing post and don't tell me what to do with my car and don't lecture me about LSD's I didn't ask for it.

I'm sure the guy you know was the co-president of ATS USA, the DG Trials guy, based in NY I believe. He is very nice.

yeah that's him! i talk with him quite a bit, cool guy.

anyways, nah just curious .damn you have some anger issues. i ask if you have one. if you put it in your sig, i would think you have it, otherwise just dreaming. whatever works for you dawg.

have fun understeering around poles

My Tomei T-Trax is the exact opposite. Quite loud. Broken in and everything. Is the T-Trax Advance the unit with 20 plates?

Hey Dousan, this is a kinda dumb question but I have one of the JDM 5 bolt LSD's from a Type X on my car and I am kinda not liking the viscous diff. I drove Yuda's car with your old diff in it and fell in love instantaneously. Is there any way I can use my 5 bolt output shafts and housing and what not with a new non-viscous diff?

TIA man...

Dousan_PG
07-03-2003, 11:37 AM
nah the LSD has one short one long output shaft.
you need 2 short for MOST LSD

now since you already have JDM lsd, some of the nismo kits can be ordered for VLSD equipped cars.

check www.nismo.co.jp
hunt around there and babblefish the proper section (ill look it up later for you)

since almost all JDM cars came w/ VLSD im sure there are lots of kits you can get

want brand are you interested in?
i suggest the nismo SSS, tomei units or ATS highly. the kaaz is excellent too, but KAAZ and Tomei units are the same, so pick whichever...
i know the new tomei is supposed to be 'street quiet'

find out which one you want, i suggest pm'ing 'ruf'. he's "local" (same state) to you guys anyways! i got my SSS thru him w/o any problems. Reflex Racing site should be up soon too with INFO! :)

I was looking into the SSS actually, it seems that people seem to like it and it is full on JDM tYt3 lol.

But seriously, I don't really know, I just know I don't like the viscous because it does not react quick enough (if you know what I am talking about) Your old diff is fantastic, very quick acting and predictable, me likes :) I want something that is at least as good or better than that :D

Dousan_PG

http://www.nismo.co.jp/catalogue/data/s13.html#2

babble fish that

i highly suggest the SSS, its sooo worht. 3 way adjustable torque breakaway settings, 1.5 and 2 way adjustable w/ disassembly, 12 plates, professional racing unit basically. my softest (mine is at now) is VERY streetable, it still engages fast, but not a lot of clunking or nuisance. works awesome at the track. a huuuge upgrade over the old one

i highly suggest, get a LSD w/ a FULL KIT
grab yoruself an open diff
sell your JDM one for some decent money (make back at least 350 or so) with the side shafts

order a kit w/ the kouki 180sx 6 bolt flanges if you have your old axles, if not, get the 5 bolt chuuki ones

then you can sell your old VLSD for some $$ and upgrade at the same time!!!!

edit there is really no reason NOT to buy the SSS if you are getting a nismo Unit!!
its only a few hundred moer then the normal 2 way and its adjustable! and its 1.5 AND 2 way! you basically are getting like 6 LSDs in 1!!

1.5 way
soft breakaway torque
medium breakaway torque
hard breakaway torque

2 way
soft breakaway torque
medium breakaway torque
hard breakaway torque

good luck!

Dousan ease up... if my sig said "Koguchi Power 500ps SR20DET" why the F*CK would you assume I had any Koguchi Power part or even a 500ps SR? Thats retarded, just cause it says it doesn't mean i have it guys...

On another note... the Deftforce D1 SPL LSD is made for: JZZ30, JZX90, JZX100, JZX110, SXE10, AE86, HCR32, ECR33, ER34, A31, C33, S13, S14, S15, FC3S, FD3S. Looks like it is a 20 plate 2 way, but not sure about other variations. Possibly they have a 12 and 16 plate versions....

Dousan_PG
07-03-2003, 11:47 AM
is that the one Ueno uses? i thought one was his 'd1 spl' unit...i see his ads in the magazines but i couldnt find it last night..hmm

DoriftoSlut
07-03-2003, 11:51 AM
Yes it is the one Ueno uses. I am not 100% but I think Deftforce is in someway associated with T&E. In teh T&E ads (not the Vertex ones) it lists a whole bunch of companies "under" them so to speak. Vertex, Legerfort, T-Zero, and iirc Deftforce... I am still looking into that though.

240_keyy
07-03-2003, 12:03 PM
Yeah I really don't want to get rid of my 5 bolt flanges because they mount up to the HUGE CV joints. That combined with the fact that I no longer have my old halfshafts doesn't help very much.

So you say they make a kit with the 5-bolt outputs for the SSS, that would be fantastic!

Dousan_PG
07-03-2003, 12:05 PM
yeah babblefish that link i sent

i think only CA18det and kouki 180sx were 6 bolt
the chuuki gen were 5 bolt
u can order it with either. its sooo worth!
i LOVE this LSD
im setting it to hardest setting soon...should be like a locked diff but with some slip :)
perfect.

i wonder what you are setting your SSS at? hahahaha

its so funny. even now i get dirty looks from people! its horrible. i go to the mall to go to the toystore. driving out the wheels skips hops and chirps..etc a family of 5 gives me the 'what the hell are you peeling out for?' look. too funny.

Car is going great. Unfortunately, I got the Tomei unit used, but it was a great deal. I got this from KEINsm when he switched over to the s15 helical slip. As for the review, I'll try and post it up tonight. I don't have the Advance though, 20 plates would have been nice!
