i see quite a few people running for example 9in wheels w/ 225's on, what is the effect of this against i guess 245-265? what purpose and edge does it serve you if any?

More responsiveness. Mostly the guys who are into loosing traction do it. A lot of time it's 205's on 9's though

I think it looks better too. I will be gettin my 18x9's and 18x10's with 225 up front and 235 on the rears. with stretched sidewalls you sacrifice major ride comfort.

It helps the rear kick out more gradually I think, because the sides of the tire are more rounded to reach the end of the rim.
