View Full Version : What happened to Attack! Coilovers

I thought they looked really cool for the price. What happened to the Attack! Coilovers that used to be 1K for a set? Anyway what do you guys recommend for an adjustable coilover for under 1200$ for my every day driver? I'd prefer adjustable camber and damper. Is anyone running these Megan Racing Street Series Coilover Kit for 1989-1994 Nissan 240SX S13 (http://www.frsport.com/Megan-Racing-Street-Series-Coilover-Kit-for-1989-1994-Nissan-240SX-S13_p_2341.html)? Are they good for street use? And if they are, anyone got a used set for sale that's still in good shape? It's going on my 230hp ka24e build until I drop my 500hp ka24de into it in the future. It's going to drive me back and forth to college and needs to handle driving back and forth on crappy phila roads but also be stiff enough not to kill me like the stock springs with monroe struts that are on there right now. They are dangerous for my driving style.

I'm going to say that a VERY popular brand on this forum is Stance. I'd say to take a look at a set of Stance coilovers over anything from Megan...

Yea but they are like 1500$ right? Do they have a replaceable gas piston for that price? Is there any reason they are worth 500$ more for my street car is my question? Just looking for some advice. Not to come at you or anything.

^^ ditto Stance
*Look into Fortune Auto coilovers also

You can get stances for 1200 or less these days. Also look into powered by max. But really if you have that much to spend, dont look towards megan as there are better choices out there.

got a quote from intensepower for some stance LX coils that were a really good deal...i'll probably go with them.

powered by max seems to be super legit stuff.

So it's all about Stance? I'll probably go with them then. Why are they only 15 way adjustable? What's the max camber I can squeeze out of them (i'll prob only be running a -.5 just wondering)? Are the linear rate 'helper' springs really necessary on a street car? I'm building a track car too which has all battle version suspension parts - still haven't picked a coilover setup for that. My everyday driver has Nismo RUCA's, Tein Tension Rods, and pretty much stock everything else. The Stance LX's are a smidgeon too soft for me (7k/5k instead of 8k/6k). powered by max is where I got my spacers for my track car... hmm..

WTF is an Attack! Coilover?
I've never heard of that shit before.
There's probably a reason they're not around anymore.

well for me i'm looking for DD comfort and height adjustability, and the LX's seem to provide that. also another member wrote a review that got me sold on them. PBM is popular and plenty of people here say they're worth the money as well. but i think they have clearance issues with ruca's that aren't theirs...not %100 on that though.

Seriously? Like really? Honestly? Another coilover thread?
. PBM is popular and plenty of people here say they're worth the money as well. but i think they have clearance issues with ruca's that aren't theirs...not %100 on that though.
Nope, it was their RUCA's that had clearance problems, and they fixed that. Maybe you should check before you post.

I don't know what you're reading but that's what i stated-that pbm ruca's had clearance problems. and i know they fixed it i just don't remember which thread it was that had the pics of the re-designed arms.

Yes another coilovers thread since coilover selection is affected by all the other aftermarket suspension parts you have as well and I'd like to make sure I buy something sound to drive on my everyday driver before I blow 1500$ on a coilover that blows up on me like my ichiba 5-lug hubs that for some reason there were no posts about the ichiba bearings failing after 3000 miles (so i had to swap in stock nissan bearings). You would think that would be a sticky some where. So stop trolling to make your post count higher by complaining about other people's threads. Powered by Max looks good to me so far. Or maybe you're right about Stance LX's for my daily driver since they'll be smoother but I usually don't care about that. So something more streetable than a race spring but stiffer than stock was really what I was looking for +adjustable camber, pillowball mounts, ride height adjustment, and adjustable damper for the daily driver (what I mean by that is cheaper than the track springs are going to be for my track car but on the other hand still dependable with adjustability).

I don't get what the problem is.
Get something that is available.
Not all coilovers are $1500.
Also, I'm sure if you searched, you would've found PLENTY of threads about how the "OEM equivalent" bearings in Ichiba are complete crap.
I know there are threads talking about it, because I've made about 20 posts on the issue.
Just yesterday my friend and I pressed the bearings out of his Ichiba hubs, and pressed in some old ass ones from his old 4 lug hubs.

seriously. theres an advertiser thread on here that you can get Gr+ pros for under 1150 SHIPPED.

I'm not even going to continue with the ichiba thing lol - thanks for all the help. The only stance one's I've seen that were last than 1150$ got discontinued :-/ Then again for some reason part's prices are seasonal - one month an sr is 2750$ the next only 1900$. And Attack! Springs I think were just rebadged Powered by Max Springs (they look exactly the same). FRSport was selling them just last year - how does no one remember them?
EDIT: NM I was going by 240sxmotoring website prices - didn't realize zilvia made that much of a difference lol

How about Dmax coilovers? There in that similar price range.

Yeah, you can get them for $1000 if you go to the right distributor. *cough*TF*cough*

I personally like the Stance coilovers. They feel nice for street use. Megan street coils on the street.... uhh... not so much.... Unless you enjoy feeling every little bump on the road, I wouldn't suggest them. Too stiff for my likings.

Waiting for somebody to chime in with the typical Koni/Ground Control topic...
Seriously, why can't you look through the five billion other coilover threads?
Because that requires work. You know very well noone is willing to put that effort in.

I think the china man in charge of Attack! ran to the other part of China and started producing another pick your color coilover.
Koni and Bilstein are on the hunt with the chinese government for these bastards. They keep hiding in different colors.
(joking obviously).

theres a search option in the upper right hand corner of the webpage
click it, type "c-o-i-l-o-v-e-r", hit enter
I think its called research? Idk its a pretty new, radical concept; your better off assuming that your the only person in the history of 240s to have questions about suspension then to read the pages of material already written on it

PBM's are the best coil's i have ever had.
i got mine for 1100 shipes to my door.
POWERED BY MAX: è»Å*高調 Competition Coilover Suspension (http://www.gtfactory.jp/cms/page.php?9)
this sale is over but im sure if you pm he can get you a set for a good pice
http://zilvia.net/f/suspension/307184-fortune-auto-coilvers-tax-return-sale-before-prices-go-up-free-gifts.html
also there is a search feature on zilvia i would use it if your looking for a better answer.
So it's all about Stance? I'll probably go with them then. Why are they only 15 way adjustable?
Some people like to say that they have 32 way. It just helps you tune your suspension better. My coilovers were about 2500 but are only 5 way adjustable ;)

32 way adjustability is stupid.
I highly doubt you can feel the difference between click 20 and 21.
Less than 15 is cool with me.
Also, all you guys getting on that bandwagon of telling him to search shut up.
He's looking for the specific coilover and cannot find them, so obviously he searched.
And even if he did search, if they're not being sold by any vendors or online he's probably looking for someone to point him in the right direction.
He's not asking for someone to tell him what coils to buy. READ.

Ah yea I assumed as much. I wanted some adjustability though. 32 seemed too good to be true. People used to push 3000$ coilovers that were really strong coilovers but they weren't adjustable at all which wouldn't really help in my daily driver. And Phila has been getting worse and worse roads because no one is patching them so I need to run it really soft on the road and alot harder on the strip/track - just because it's my daily driver doesn't mean I'm not going to use it as a weekend warrior too. Not to mention that my s13 stock's suspension as horrific front end understeer that I need to compensate for. I think Powered by Max looked good too so after mostly everyone's helpful recommendations I'm either going with them or Stance GR+s... I'm leanin more towards PBM since I do have a bunch of their stuff. I think Attack! was even on frsport drift car or 240sxmotoring's - can't remember...

There are other companies that use something like the Tein EDFC. I know I saw some the other day but I can’t think who made them. but they were like 2000 - 3000 for the whole set.
If you have PBM I would run PBM. also if you have any issue with them DAN from PSM can help you out. Run whatever you think you’re going to like most all the coils that were posted in this thread are awesome. Try to stay away from Megan / Godspeed / ISIS. You can save the extra 300-400 and buy a rally good coil.
read up on the one you think your going to run. If I was to buy a new set I would want to try out the Fortune Auto (http://zilvia.net/f/##) coils I hear really good things about those also.

Yea the fortune auto one's look nice but I figured 7k and 6k instead of 8k and 6k would be a little too soft for me :-/ but it is my everyday driver so maybe that's a good thing. Plus I prefer a noticeably stiffer front end and a softer rear end.

Don't get PBM. Haha.

Yes it's REALLY bad...It's a lot worse then Megan, and that's already bad enough...

Thats correct. I tried the 32 way and i could not really feel a difference. That reason alone is why i purchased the cusco's.
To the op try to get rides from local guys that have coil-overs u want to purchase . It will help you out alot.

$950 shipped, you can order custom rates between 3k and 15k front and back. Go search the vender forums a few companies sell them.
