Well little discussion has already been made on when the next 240 meet will be. So I am just going to throw out the date we were thinking about and see if you guys will be available.
Well Sunday, July 27th is the date we are looking at. It is the weekend before the convention so I guess that way for those coming we can discuss whatever.
So unless if something big is happening that day we'll go with that date. Next on the list is location. We have a few choices. Either go to where the June meet was (miami woods), or go to the lakefront again. It doesn't really bother me which we go to, as long as there is space I'm happy.
Also a few people wanted to have a bbq, so I guess we can set that up to, who would be willing to bring a grill, and who would be willing to grill?
We can either have people sign up to bring things, or we can have a few people just buy a bunch of stuff and reimburse them.
So let the discussions begin, any things you want to add or change be my guest.

west burbs sounds good to me, closer to home :D. One of these days I'll go driving around to find a spot near a highway.
Location don't matter to me, its all about the cars, and as long as its not too far.

Just let me know where.
Also any of you 4 lug 240's want to buy some rims? let me know. I have BBS's and OZ's. Email me.

I'm up for a meet at the end of the month. Allows for some time in between meets. And location isn't a biggie for me. Actually, I wouldn't mind a change. Let's me get lost in a new area every once in a while...:D

lakefront off lakeshore sounds nice. or even by the lake in Evanston.

Lets put it this way, first person to give an actual location name, and a location (closest corner, or address if it has one) basically gets it. Also if you could go and check this sunday and see if is a super busy spot or not (around 1).
Don't matter where, as long as its in or around Chicago.
Right now I have two places in mind but I need to go and check them out soon.
MI SO FST
06-25-2003, 11:18 AM
i think the best plavce to have it is where the june meet was. Its not as busy as the other places that i have checked out before. There is also enough parking for everyone.

I'm trying to think of a good west burbs spot. The problem is, everything here is private property, no large parks that are public than I can think of off the top of my head.
Maybe Naperville's riverwalk. I'll look into that.

What about bussy wood by woodfeild mall. everyone knows where that is..

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
Guys can we place the meet one week earlier, I leave on the 21st! And I was looking forward to unveiling (possibly but not probably) my goodies under the hood!

i think busse will be tooooooooo busy.

About the date, it doesn't bother me if its changed. Only reason that date was given was to give people time. If everyone else is fine with the date change its fine with me.
About location Art is right that Miami Woods is a great place, mainly due to that specific spot being empty on Sundays, most of the busy parts in that area are in the other sections.
Busse Woods is always busy, and believe it or not you are supposed to pay to rent it out. Something like 40 bucks.

LoL James!
Ok sorry for F***ING UP EVERYTHING, but how about a BBQ!?!?!
Cause seriously it give us something to do and makes it worth the drive. It kills me to see people eating McDonalds at 240 meets, everyone wants to eat so lets BBQ!.
They do it at the honda-tech meets and they are a huge hit, just try to bring atleast one thing: whether it be pop in a cooler, buns, meat, chips, silverware, etc.
What do you guys think? (And honda-tech meet only had one small *** grill and they fed like 45 people).
:loco: And my brother drives a honda, so no flaming! (well I guess you could flame for that alone, but hey...)
KiDyNomiTe
06-26-2003, 04:08 PM
I am all up for grilling, always adds to the meet, plus brings in the free loaders :D. We have to have some people bring certain things though, at least to some extent or we'll have lots of raw meat with no grill .
So who wants to bring a grill and meat?? I'll bring a few boxes of krispy kremes :D.
Lastly what date are we doing this on? The last sunday of the month or the second to last sunday? Or Matt can you come on the last one?

I was thinking of buying a small grill and if I do I'll bring it.
That guy with the white s14 who was at the all nissan meet had one, but I dont remember his name.

How does July 20th sound to you guys? It lands on a Sunday.
I am leaving for one month to study in Krakow, Poland.
As far as meat and grills go... Do you guys have a location that you think has atleast one grill?
Because at the honda-tech meet the park that they selected had abundant grills/bathrooms/benches. I think all we would really need is a grill and a bench to sit on, the rest (meat + drinks + etc) would fall into place rather easily.

I am fine with pushing it up a week. And We don't have to go somewhere where there is a grill. Just as long as someone brings one. Duffman said he might. If not him I am sure someone has a small grill that'll fit in thier car.
Then food is brought by whoever. I will be glad to pitch in and reimburse some of the money (some not all) to whoever is willing to buy and bring it. Or maybe a few people can just go to th meet a little early and head up the street to the dominicks on dempster and wuakegan and buy some stuff. Another plus to having the meet there (dominicks bieng close).
Looks like I should have my car whenever I decide to pick it up (most likely this weekend), so you all will finally get to see it in person, after all these meets in minivans and camrys :D
matt0941
07-02-2003, 01:33 PM
Yea no more minivans!
As for the barbeque dealio I think that the right think to do would just be that everyone the day before post what they are bringing. Say 10 people post: Ill bring drinks in a cooler, ill bring cups and plates, ill bring meat, ill bring buns, etc.
Its alot easier than it sounds, and all we would have to do would be stop at dominicks right before you get there, bada bing bada boom!
:aw: Yay Barbeque!

Ok well David from Touge Factory (that weird guy who always drives a 4runner to the meets) is finally coming in handy!
He said he has a big old grille that he will haul in that big old car of his to the meet!
Ok joking aside he does have a kicka** car that he is working on right now!

Ooh Ooh Ooooh!!! Pick me! Pick me!!!
I live in Naperville now and my apartment building has a bunch of bigass parking lots right near it. And the building has a deck with two nice grills we can use. I volunteer my place (it's at 5th Ave. Station in Naperville).
Well, let me know.
Eric
matt0941
07-03-2003, 03:18 PM
Ohhhhh, not bad. So do the decks overlook the parking lot where we would have the cars cause that would be bada**! Ok I am just dreaming. But if you want to volunteer your place than props to you, but you have to commit to it!
Now if we could just get a rollcall on who is going, and which you would rather like (the park or the apartment idea) that would help alot.
KiDyNomiTe
07-03-2003, 04:35 PM
As long as there is plenty of space (not sure ehow many cars but expect around 25-30 cars I guess) in the parking lots and you are 110% sure you will be available that day I would love to have it over in naperville, only a few minutes from me.
We should make a decision soon.
So as of now July 20th at UIUCs place. Unless if someone can make a legit reason on not to do either one of those in the next day or so, then we can make that final. Then start arrangining bbq stuff.
matt0941
07-04-2003, 11:43 AM
Yes, speak now or forever hold your peice... of BBQ chicken.
But if anyone really has a "better" idea speak up because I think we should really get this nailed down.
1) Make sure no one has any objections to the naperville area.
2) Make sure UIUC is positive about allowing it at his place on July 20th.
Just gotta get those two outta the way.
JDM180SX
07-04-2003, 04:27 PM
Naperville sounds good. Just keep us all updated to make sure its a go for sure. And let us know what to bring. Buns, Meat, Pop, PS2 (I might be able to snag my friends Jap PS2 and his copy of Initial D)...what have you.
*Semi-Thread Jack* I'm lookin for a 91+ Front bumper from a 240SX...w/lip would be awesome...anyone who might have joined the Silvia front group buy and is gonna be selling their front let me know (PM or E-mail at
[email protected])...I'd be happy to buy it at the meet. =)

One more day and the 20th in naperville will be final. Then we get a little over 2 weeks to get things together.

Well I guess July 20th at UIUCs place is final.
Eric, Is this the train station up washington st.
If you could get a yahoo map picture and mark the location through paint or something that would be great. Then I can put the map on the site and everywhere else.
How close is the place to washington and 5th ave?
EDIT: BTW we can start listing what people will be bringing.
I'll bring donuts and pitch in on whoever wants to bring some meat.

Sorry for not getting back to you guys about this sooner. I don't have internet at my new place yet, so the only place I can get online is at work. D'oh!
Anyway, yeah, it's literally right next to the train station on 5th just east of Washington.
Oh, and as for the parking situation. The main Metra lots are open on the weekends, and the lots around my building are cool too. The only one that is NOT cool is the lot right behind the building that can be observed partially from the deck. Sooooo, that means that we can't grill and view cars at the same time. But I think that's OK.
Oh, and I don't have PS2 or XBOX, but I have a TV and nice stereo if you want to game.
Kid, how about you call me so we can discuss this stuff. 630-803-4343 is my cell. Everyone should save my number in case they have issues getting here.
I'll get the Yahoo map soon and post that up...sorry, I'm a little busy today.

Awesome sounds great!
Now we need to get a big rollcall going for who is positive they are going, and who they MAY be bringing (A definite and maybe's list).
While we are doing that then people who are bringing stuff (I will think of something good to bring) will have an idea of how much too bring.

Eric, you changed your cell number? I still had the 217 number. Anyways let me know for sure where and when its going to be.
uiuc240
07-08-2003, 07:37 AM
yeah...i JUST changed it last week. i figured now that i live in the *630*, i better get the right number if i want the hos to be able to reach me. :D
i'm not sure of the time...that's Kid's deal. all i know is that it's on the 20th. i would suggest we do it in the afternoon and then grill *after* we look at cars. we can just lock 'em up, and go up to the terrace/deck and hang out there.
couple of things though:
1. there will be no burnouts or hooliganism
2. there will be no obscenely loud music
3. because we are going to be going THRU my apartment building, we will have to be respectful of other tenants
these things will get *ME* in trouble, so if i see you doing them, you're going to have to leave.
on another note:
1. there is a lounge area (large) attached to the deck. it's reservable for $50 ($25 of which is refundable if it's clean when we're done). if you want me to reserve this, let me know and then i'll just need to get like 1 or 2 dollars from each person staying for food. speaking of which, if the time i proposed works for people, and some people want to leave before the food, that could be a nice exit point.
thoughts?

Timewise we usually have em at one, so stick with one, I won't be able to make it out there until one anyway, but so people know where to park just park your coupe out there (if it already isn't there), that way if you come early just find the red coupe and park there.
I'll give you a call later today so I get a better idea of exactly where it is, i've been by the train station a few times.
I also suggest to those coming by washington, watch the speed limits, it's a busy area (don't know how it is on Sundays though).
The site is updated, once I get the map all sorted out I'll put it up on there. If someone already hasn't could someone put it up on FA.

Theres a guy in Naperville who drives a red S14, and I see his car almost every day. Last weekend I saw it 4 times in one day in different places. I'm going to ask him if he wants to come.
I'm going to buy a small charcoal grill in a few days so I'll bring that. I don't have much grillin' skills though so someone else should probably do the cooking.

BTW A little thing I added to the site, is if you wanna sell something or buy something just add it to the link under market.
Would have made a forum but requires a lot more work than I thought, so I guess this will make it easier for people to sell things in chicago.

OK...I've attached the map. The brown box is my building. The red boxes are parking lots. The one right in front of the building is apparently patrolled by the towing company every 4 hours...but I've never seen them. In any case, it would be easies to just park in the Metra lot, since it's huge and open on the weekends. So, park there. You'll see my car. As you can see, my place is just east of Washington on 5th. The address is:

Let's figure out how many people are coming and then assign food stuffs.
We're going to need:
Meat (Burgers and Brats)
Buns
Cheese
Chips
Potato Salad
Baked Beans
Soda (Cans)
Condiments
Plates/Napkins/Utensils/etc.
The other option is for all of you to pay admission and I'll take care of the rest (I'll even make the soda cold). I can easily just get the needed food and then you all just give me $5-6 for the trouble. That will cover the lounge rental too. Does that sound workable?

OK. More info. I've got the lounge reserved. Turns out, it's $50 to use it, but I also need to give them a $300 security deposit. I get that back if there's no damage. So, the moral is:
DON'T MESS UP THE LOUNGE  ;)
I don't see anything being a problem, though. And she said the room capacity was 50...so that's all we can have. I told her it'd probably be about 30. And I told her that it would be a "Show And Shine" and then a BBQ. She said, "sounds good!"
SO, it's a go. She's writing the contract now. We're on.

shouldn't be a problem. I'm going to reserve the room tomorrow. I'll just get it from 1-10 or something. the only thing with coming at 6 is that we might already be on the deck grilling. speaking of which...it's a PITA to keep buzzing people in to the building, so basically, we're going to leave our cars and go inside all at once. if someone needs to go out to their car for some reason, take a buddy with you to hold the door open or something. in fact, i'll go with you. otherwise i have to keep answering my cell phone and buzzing people in.
in any case, if they come late and need to be buzzed in, just have them call me on my cell. 630-803-4343

hello guys, i talked to james and eric and i offered to go ahead and host the meet/BBQ at my newly opened shop in south naperville (1 mile west of route 59/95th st) so if its all good for you guys then we can do it here. we got the grill and plenty of parking for everyone to show up, and there will be plenty of eye candy for all to see :p :D
no one needs to pay, we'll provide food in form of burgers/hot dogs/brats/chicken. if anyone wants to bring some meat that would be nice too, the more the merrier. also i'd ask everyone bring some drinks (soda, beer watever). and if someone wants to bring out an extra grill that would be nice too
eric said to post it on here and see what you guys think, but he'd like to know by tomorrow morning so he knows whether to go rent the spot or not. so i guess post your opinion, ya or nay.

Well I hate the idea of changing so late, but I think some people would be happier not leaving thier cars when we do the grilling, also this is a cheaper alternative, so Eric won't have to pay all these gobs of money.
If we do do it at your place i'll ask art to send one more e-mail out so people know about the change. The good part is most people got erics number and its not far from his place.
So I guess I am in on moving it, plus it'll be easier to find this place for people that haven't been around here.
The address to your place is the one on your site right Leo?
If nobody disagrees in the next day I'll make the changes to the site and whoever posted in any forum update the forums.

yea i wish i would have known about this earlier; as you may or may not know i was in the middle of moving to the new place so i havent even had the chance to keep up on the boards at all; hell it was james who called and told me about the BBQ today after he told me about the fuss some guy threw about the front end GB but that's another different story :axe:

I think I know about the fuss, or a similar one someone was complaining about.
Start time is at 1. If you need any help with anything just let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Sounds good to me! :boink:

Since most of the people that have responded to the thread agree with the change, now we can officially declare leos shop as the meet location, so matt could you change the FA thread if you haven't done so already, i'll get NICO and 240sxforums, and the site.

I wish all you guys to have a good time. I read this thread and how it got organized and uiuc240 had a brilliant plan going on to the point I was thinking of flying up there (it is my B day weekend) to have fun with yass...and then it has been moved.
I just want to see a clarification of what is going on because, We have a meet in South Florida as well but it will be all types of nissans, sentras and all and I as a causual observer what to know what happened to the ideal of uiuc240 having this at his apartment compex.
If this is considered being nosy, just disregard my post..it was building up to look like a great plan and then the change...I just want to see clarification is all.. I can consider coming to visit, but the 240 would be left behind. I got some friends in Chicagoland I would like to see as well...but nothing definite..just a whimm. I do things at the drop of a hat sometimes.
1fasts13
07-12-2003, 01:29 PM
well if you followed the thread there are a few reasons for the move:
1) guys had to leave their cars outside and not be able to hang in the parking lot (which how is that a meet if you cant talk about your kaaa???)
2) eric/uiuc240 had to front a bunch of cash to make it happen (in that case i am offering my place without anyone having to fork out some money other than if they want to have alcohol)
3) this was only done after i got the ok from the organizers (eric, james, kidynomite)
as i said before i wished i knew earlier and i hate to change it at last minute also but at least this way we can all check out each other's cars (which is the point of a meet) and it'd be free :)

Why not compromise and have it at both places. Meet up at leo's new shop check it out, and then head to erics for some bbq later in the afternoon.
I know this is complicating things but most of us have cell phones so we can organize on the fly and help people find whereever the hell we're at.

ya it would be nice to do, but then Eric would have to still pay loads of money with a chance of not getting it back. Leos seems to be the best bet.
And to Bill, you should come out, I have been to plenty of meets with no car:bash: , but finally wil come out with one, maybe you can buy something from Leos shop while your here :D.

Ya you guys are not the first.
From the few I can think of right now, there is Mike (but his motor blew apparantely), some guy that came to one of last years meets (I wasnt there), but he drives a white S14, I am sure if you search around you'll find the pics from those meets. Then there is this kouki s14 with a KA-T never saw the guy personally, but saw pics of his car, and have seen him driving around schaumburg.
I am sure there are more, and I am sure Art would know a few more (he knows everyone around here).
You'd be the first to come to a meet in a while though.

Whatup.
Yeah, Leo called me on Friday evening after I had left work (no internet yet at my new place). We discussed it, and then I told him to call James/Kid and see what they had to say about it. I think it's actually a great idea, especially since this will give *me* a chance to see if I can pimp some garage space or something.
Anyway, Bill, you should still come. Oh, and to anyone else who's interested, I'm all for cruising back to my place later in the day and just chilling out for a while if you're interested. Leo's shop is only about 10 minutes from my place at sane driving speeds. We could just play it by ear and see if anybody wants to go when the time comes. The lounge doesn't HAVE to be reserved...it's always open. It's just nice to reserve it if you know there will be a lot of people, or if it's like Super Bowl Sunday.
So, does that still sound cool? I think it'll still be a fun meet. I'm looking forward to it!

Ok I just finished alot of work on my car (most of it not visible) but it will be there. As for you guys being able to drive your cars there...
As of now till saturday I will most likely be able available to help make any cars go-ready. I just got my impact wrench and sockets today so if anyone out there needs a hand just give me a call on my cell anytime in the after noon: 847-208-2473, I don't know much but always like to learn working on cars! (Just don't ask me to wash your car or something :p )
As for going up to your apartment later yea that would be awesome, hope there is alot of cool cars all cruising for a bit, that's always dope.
If not good luck to ya and see you guys at the meet!!!
PS: Leo I was talking to some ITR friends and they said they can't really come to the BBQ because one of them hit your car during a honda-tech BBQ a while back! (He dosed off at the wheel, sounds like a bummer!) Well thanks for hosting anyway, ill try my best not to hit you.

Well I tried to pull out the stops and looked into making it there. I went to the all Florida meet today (about a 270 mile round trip) and I got the horrid message on my answering machine I got to go into work early Monday morning so to do the trip the way I would be comfortable, I would need that Monday (21'st) off. I had a ticket in reserve but next time guys? Howabout it?
We are just in a nasty crunch at work and they cannot do Monday without me (pussys)
I enjoyed following this thread and I will be there in spirit and fire up my Grill with some damned good Chicago style BBQ here and I will be thinking about you folks. I really appreciated the invite and I really think this meet will be a one of a kind blast. I love Chicago and the hospitality..and especially the food!!
At our meet in Florida today, I got there about 330PM and left about 5PM, it was looking like rain. Thier was two S-14's and Two S-13's counting mine. Lots of nice Sentras and Altimas. Even a NX2000! I think they got some good pics of my car, rust holes under the hatch and all. It was rather short meet and the driving was 4X longer than the actual meet. Left at 145PM, got back here around 730PM...but all in all it is great to see and speak to other Nissan folks. We did not eat or anything. Made some friends.
The drive there and back on I-95 was worth the trip alone. Lots of super high speed cars running very fast on the interstate...averaging 85, lots of oppurtunitys to run upwards of 100 to over 110 safely with traffic. The car loved the trip..ran like a champ! South Florida traffic on I-95 Hauls a$$. Lots of people doing 100 for miles and miles. I saw NO FHP. Wierd thing is no one seemed to even want to slow at all going in the 55MPH limit, just flying 75/85 and 95 and more. It was danger to slow to 75 in the 55.
I hope to make it to a Chicagoland meet in the near future. I will make sure it is not the middle of July, when our company is in an uproar.
Cheers,
Bill

Sucks you can't come out, would have been great to have you out here. But ya understand about the work, don't want you to ruin your cash flow :D.
Next meet will most likely be one of the last two weeks of August, trying to get a meet every month - month and a half. So just check out the site (http://www.geocities.com/chicago240sx2003) every once in a while. This time around we will try and sort out location and date sooner.
Your Nissan meets are like ours, lots of sentras and altimas, and a couple 240s. The 240 is never huge at these meets.
Bill Roberts
07-19-2003, 09:53 PM
The miami Grench has a 240 meet South of me, I wanna check that out
My idea of a meet is for folks to bring some parts, let everyone talk about their car (each member gets to hold the stage, going from car to car, and some beer for those that are not driving, big a$$ed BBQ, some bikini women ready to show off, a place where their is a pool so a PARTY can ensue, and perhaps a DJ and a live band. It could all be done if each person pitches in a 20 and you got 40 people. 800 bucks goes a ways...plus, any left over dough...a raffle for the cash..for effeiciency...
It has to be organized in a way that everyone feels a part of the team. I know my N/A engine was probably a dissapointment, even that it is clean and 15 years old...but no one wanted a ride, I would be happy to go up to the interstate and show them what it feels like to heavy brake to get down to the speedlimit to get into traffic!
The vibe did not seem like a good idea to ask or such. Perhaps i was not there long enough. I was not dissapointed, that is for sure.
Well it was my first meet and actually, the drive was so nice that I may just taske some drives like that exploring on weekends instead of sitting at home. It only cost 22 bucks in gas, 7 in refreshemnts and I saw a place I never been, talked to some nice folks, it was cool.
PM me a number, I will check in on ya tomorrow afternoon on da phone!!
Cheers,
Bill

Very cool My Man!
BB ribs are the best. We got a lot of New Yorkers and Chicagolites here that do them well in some of the resturants..but 16.99 for a teaser rack just ain't happning!
We will do this, when is a question of time. I kinda hope the Florida boys look at this site as a reference of how it is to be done.
I did have a great time and like I say, the drive, oh...the drive down a non policed Interstate with high end high speed crusers (not the 95MPH dodge truck camp which all SUV's and trucks were running around the 88 to 102)..I found that me and a 330 was even, His passes were not that potent (compared to cararras and the E55's that were taging around) and then I got ahead of him (somehow) and took and exit and he cruised in behind me for a Burger king run, and we chatted some..I took a parking place (he knew he was on line since he had soot coming from his pipe and I pulled up beside him at over 100..in forth (so much for my 7 mph rule but the oppurtunity could not be missed and Betsy was feeling quite good.. my car) And he asked me, what did your speedo say, I said, I had no idea, off the scale, he said, 132 was his gov. but he just got it taken care of and he said he was around 140 with nothing left..and I had nothing left either.
So matching a 330 is good info At those speeds...but he weighs 800LBS more than me...with a 3.0(6cyl)running around 235+HP and no telling what else.
I simply could not drive 75. I tryed. It would have been dangerous. And when the speed limit turned to 55, I was still cruising 86 with the flow..I tried to pace the flow down to 70..no such luck...
Driving In S Florida is a trip..a good one..and the car is fully blown out for a while...many d shifts to 3 at 80 and 4 at 105....to keep it ripe.
About cleaning, yea, this morning I overslept from a hard work week. I found this cleaner called super purple, good for Alum.(stock alloys) and it took care of the rims, then just palmolive in a bucket and a towel for the body and under body sides. My car looked really good considering the rust holes in the hatch (only) and I did not vac it out but I was sporting my Halon 1211 20LBS extinguisher (leaky injectors) just in case. I think a few folks took notice of that big thing, considering a refill is over 700 bucks.
They had a tripod and got some good pics of my car, rustholes and all of the hatch.
Sleepy eyes hold up at top speed, I leaned and scooted up to see if they were being abused by the wind, rock solid (I was afraid they would get buffeted to death)
Sorry for the ramble...but the best of the show was the drive.

I'm not tired either...hehehe:D
I drove from Naples to Key West and back at year ago. The drive back was all at night and we were hauling *** too. It was weird. There just really aren't any cops there I think. It's easy to go fast in Illinois too...just gotta take the State Highways instead of the Interstates. I blast from here to Champaign in 2 hours. That's not that amazing, but it's fun because it's a 2-lane highway where you have to downshift and pass a lot. I love that. Just gives me one more reason to grab 3rd at 75 and whiiizzzzzzzz up to 105 before letting off. Love that stuff.
Anyway, the ribs are on whenever you decide to haul out here.
Leaky injectors? WTF? On a built motor? Fix that ish, meng!

No big deal, Justin. I tried calling you toward the end just to make sure you weren't going to show up like 20 minutes after we left (Murphy's Law, right?!) Anyway, you weren't home. So we left ;)
Anyway, I'm not so sure about HIN...I've heard that's a teeny-bopper rice fest...am I wrong? If so, please set me straight.

LOL it is in a way. I have been to one (IRev). It was alright. Although the cars I was actually interested in I either already saw in person or saw at one of the meets.
Plus 20 dollars for admission and ~10 for parking is not cool at all, cuz im broke :bash:

hmmm, I have never been to one so I guess I have to give it a try at least one time. Who knows maybe there will be some big sponsers or cover mags that will want my car, hahah right. Maybe if it was finished.
