When I try to put the car into gear it simply won't go into gear. On top of that the car sputters a little and slightly rolls forward when I'm trying to get it into gear. Is this a clutch or a slave cylinder that needs replacing?
Thanks for the help guys.

When you depress the clutch, does the slave cylinder move?

I'm not exactly sure. But I will check it tonight.
I literally have to slam the car into gear working back and forth between 1st and 2nd until it finally pops into 1st.

clutch pedal soft? Could be your master or slave not holding pressure. I have the same thing.

The clutch has play in it and then once you push further on the pedal it finally feels like it has pressure.
if it was the master then wouldn't the brake pedal feel the same?

Why? Each pedal has its own master cylinder.

That is trure. I don't know I guess I can trouble shoot until something gives.
