View Full Version : Ugh, more problems (electrical)

I recently bought a 91' hatch. It had a misfire because of a bad injector (which I fixed). Now, after registering it and being able to drive it, I find that the wipers will not work and the climate control won't work either. When I got the car a week ago, they were in working order. I checked their respective fuses and they are NOT blown. I also checked the body harness that goes through the passenger wheel well and it is not chewed through. Any ideas where I should check next?

Yet another electrical problem showed up. I took my car out tonight and find that my turn signals and brake lights don't come on. Headlights, tail lights and the sidemarkers come on but won't glow brighter when I flick the turn signals or hit the brakes. The "open door" light on the cluster glows brighter when I hit the brakes though. *facepalm*

Help please, these things WERE functioning before. Such as the brake and tail lights. They were just functioning earlier in the day.

It's God telling you you should have stayed coupe :D

thats a LOT of shit to start going bad. check ALL fuses, not just the ones that are obvious. nissans fucking stupid with how they tied a lot of it together.

sounds like you got so issues there. check the fuse box under the hood. cant remember which fuse it was but i belive its a 75 amp one make sure its not dieing on you. thats the same thing that happen to me when i bought my 240 could not figure out what was going on. took a screw driver and tap the tops of the fuses and bam, saw something fall apart. also had some wires that got pinched some how and it was shorting out.

hope that kinda helps. electrical issues can be a nightmare some times

check your grounds. check all connectors make sure theres no corrosion .(green-white crusty stuff) try cleaning with a nylon brush and contact cleaner or electrical cleaner.

sounds like something's going on in the accessory power distribution.

first thing i'd check is the tail lights and make sure A. you have the correct bulbs in the correct sockets. ie no single filament bulbs in dual filament sockets, or vice versa.

also make sure no dual filament bulbs are out. sometimes when they go bad, they'll lay across onto the other filament and backfeed the circuit with power and all kinda wierd funky shit happens.

it also could possibly be a bad multifunction switch (turn signal/headlight switch).

or something could be going on under the plastic of the steering column making them both act funky. maybe a wires being pinched with the steering wheel tilt adjusted differently or something *shrug.

after you check the lights, take off the plastic on the steering column with a phillips screwdriver and do a quick visual.

that'd be where i'd start.

good luck,

Dave

Thanks all but it was something REALLY stupid. The plug to the Timer Module disconnected somehow and all I had to do to fix it was plug it back in. Buddy of mine told me that it controls a BUNCH of interior stuff like the lights, the blower, brake lights, etc.
