slight ticking upon acceleration (ka24de)

Today while driving to the wekfest car meet I noticed that my 95 240 would make this muffled ticking noise when accelerating normal from 1000-2500 rpm then it would just disappear and accelerate normal with no unusual noise. Upon searching on zilvia I found that a lot of these problems are associated with timing chain guides or valve lash but I have remove both tensioners previously so I know its not that. Could it be that my hydraulic chain tensioner is clogged up and causing excessive timing chain slack. Anyone have similar experience or any thoughts on what it might be.

I know what it is, jack up the car, put a brick on the brake pedal and a stick or light brick on the gas pedal, walk around the car, and listen to were the noise takes you.
