Hello,
I'm originally from a local New York/NJ forum and this is the thread I posted there. I cleaned it up a bit but basically this just the condensed version of my 3 year continuing thread on my local forum documenting my progress. I hope you enjoy. I know Sileighty's arent the favorite here but I hope you can enjoy the work that went into making this car:

The goal for this car is going to be 350-400hp on a GT2871r turbo with a fully built motor at around 18-20lbs.
Here's what it looked like when I bought it back in like 2007. Came with a SOHC KA in bad shape... Clutch was shot, but rust was minimal (Lil specs on the frame rail, shock tower, and rocker arm). So I decided to wait for my SR Swap before driving it.

Fast forward to my Wings Swap and Silvia Front :) Car drove like a completely animal. I had no idea turbos cars were so fast. I met Dane shortly after and he brought me back down to reality, showing me I was actually running 19lbs on my stock t25 turbo, making my car feel like a Ferrari. In the end the turbo ended up blowing at Drift Nirvana. Here's some pics of the progress made during Mid 2008:

Since the turbo was fried I upgraded to a 2871r, Power FC, and 740CC Nismo Injectors. BUT Due to a busted o-ring I ended up bending rod #4 and ruining my motor. So what else is one to do? Rebuild of course :P I hope to have the motor completely rebuilt by sometime toward the end of the summer. The motor should be good enough to handle around 500hp, but I will be keeping it around 350hp (turbo limitations).
Waiting for paint and a motor:

Most of the motor is assembled at this point. All that's left is the lifters, cams and the rest of the timing chain setup.. Then all the peripherals can start going back on the motor.
We did run into an issue with the oil baffle pan. Apparently ARP main studs stick out of the girdle too far and you cant seal the pan properly cause they hit the pan. Having the choice of shaving the pan or the arp stud, the oil pan was chosen as the victim.
Here it is clearly not sealing correctly (this is with the pan bolted down)

Whats next:
Powdercoat crossmember: (Black Chrome) - Done
Powdercoat Z32 Brakes: (Red, hopefully matching rim lip) - Done
Powdercoat Valve Cover: (Wrinkle Red) - Done
Motor Install
Wiring (fusebox relocation to passenger side + full tuck)
PS: Yes I will lower the car when its done! :)
UPDATE: 5/3/2012
I know its been forever since I updated, but a lot of shits happened and the car finally fucking runs. Alternator was rebuilt and then almost went on fire, a bolt snapped off on my z32 calipers. Wiring is a pain in the ass. But whatever the thing fucking moves now. Thanks to Dane (MTX450), Alex and Pat for all the support for the last 3 years. And thanks to my job for slowly paying for the build.

Finally bought a Xenon rear bumper, which is going to be painted this week and hopefully installed. Interior still needs work. Last weekend and this week was basically spent driving around with Dane street tuning the Haltech. Sometime in the next few months I will bring it to the dyno and post the results of our hard work.

The car has coilovers, its currently running Stance GR+ Pro setup. Its so high so I can actually jack the car up and so the body shop didnt have a hard time getting it up on any ramps.
As for the valvetrain... supertech 110lbs dual spring.

That color is spectacular! I was pretty relieved after seeing the rest of the paint pics, realizing that you didn't keep it flat black
Love everything overall too, I'd do almost exactly the same if I were to build an S13. Can't wait to see pics of it lowered and with the motor finished.
Makes me want to visit my dad so I could see it in person...

why did you pull the fenders first without test fitting the wheels/tires? 17x9.5+12 you can fit with just a roll/tiny pull.
wouldve looked 100000x better without that huge pull.

I just like the way it looks really, no other reason... Mind you I have stock suspension arms so its cambered a bit. Once I get adjustable arms that is gonna sit outward more. Can always rock spacers if its a few millimeters off.

My one issue with them was installation is dangerous and frustrating. I almost lost and eye when the collets didnt sit properly. I think i spent an hour just looking for lost collets too.

Lol, aint that the truth. Im not sure if I could spend that much on paint, hell im not sure if I have put that much into my car as a whole. :eek3:

I really wanted and aero bumper as well. It just wasn't in the cards this time. People are selling those things for $500 with damage, its rediculous. I'm at the point with this car where anything i buy needs to be perfect or in great condition.
If anyone knows someone selling an Aero bumper or a Xenon Rear Lip in good condition please direct them this way!
And that is the mentality to have.

Need help from some users with powdercoating experience.
I just gave my powdercoater a ton of front end components including my entire front crossmember and steering rack. My question:
Are there any rubber components inside the steering rack that will get destroyed by the 500 degree oven baking process while powder coating (Ive already removed the Tie rods and boots)
Only answer if your 100% certain
Thanks!

The actual steering rack? Yes. There are seals inside that will most likely get destroyed from 500* temps.

the car looks beautiful man:] i cant wait to see it done
on a side note:
maybe im just tired or maybe people arnt reading... but he said he was going to lower it more when everything's said and done... lol stop telling him to lower it. and think of paint costs this way. im in school to be a collision repair tech. if i want to fix my car and do a full paint job like he did with a SINGLE STAGE paint, it would probably be around 500(paint/materials). and i don't have to pay labor. granted, im learning still but if you figure it takes me a month to do everything working on it 2 hours roughly a day, 4 days a week. and the lowest ive seen a shop charge for labor is 40$/hour your talking almost 1300 in labor alone. and that's with a single stage paint. maybe another tech can chime in and give another estimation for something like this but either way, a complete paint job is pretty damn expensive.

Thats a really nice Sileighty. I got a friend to spray my S13 in single stage Toyota white and wet sand and buff it late last year. It was only then that I really started to get compliments from people. Paint is the single most important thing that makes a car that is older stand out.

Not much has been going on in terms of the build lately. All the powdercoating is complete and i just installed the motor. Wiring is slow but I've removed all emissions and unneeded relays (popup retractor relays, fogs etc). I will also be adding in my own relays for the headlights to run higher wattage bulbs.
Heres what was removed:

Alright guys some awesome progress this weekend. Me and MTX450 really started to get deep into wiring this weekend. Heres what was accomplished:
1: Drill holes for super stealthy wire install. Headlights, Horns, Signals, and Altima Fan wiring all went through the passenger side holes drilled below. They should be high enough to avoid water going into the car, and gromets will be installed next weekend.
Picture from alongside the fender:

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_8HxSU196GDs/TFYdAe3B66I/AAAAAAAAH20/dGEp9tZATqc/s800/DSC_0056.JPG
Shots of loomed wire (This stuff is a pain in the ass to loom btw, but it looks so dope):
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_8HxSU196GDs/TFYdAS7AZ3I/AAAAAAAAH20/weW6MuhFVEs/s144/DSC_0057.JPG

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_8HxSU196GDs/TFYdBFt9RAI/AAAAAAAAH20/mtCosV8bo9w/s800/DSC_0063.JPG
This is a ****ty shot of the main chassis harness. Its not inside the car as we are doing a nice wire tuck. WE had a choice, hut like 60 wires and repin them or just run it all behind the dash, this probably saves us about 2 weeks of headaches:
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_8HxSU196GDs/TFYdA1NDNYI/AAAAAAAAH20/EFTTxOzt4C8/s800/DSC_0060.JPG
At the peak of the wiring extravaganza we took the engine harness out to play, hooked everything up, and made the lights, signals, horns, and A/C work. Heres a wonderful shot of that mess:
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_8HxSU196GDs/TFYdCKXtP9I/AAAAAAAAH20/3MtztdGTX6w/s800/DSC_0067.JPG
And in probably one of the funniest events of the evening, we tried to make an awesome video showing our work in progress, and this is what happened:
Take 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QL9XgZBFqQ)
Annnndd then 2 seconds later when we adjusted the ground :( The whole situation was kind of ghetto. We had this little Black and Decker jump starter we were using that had no power left so everything was getting 9 volts. But hey it works right?! :)
Take 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_c3UNr-Qoc)
Next week is probably going to be terminating whatever wires we can, setting up the DiF Pulse modulated Fan controller, and more wiring tucks. A battery relocation, and start legitimizing the engine harness for stealthy installs :)

So heres the progress for this weekend. We bought a mounting board for the fuse box and mounted the electronics, I decided to mount it in the glove compartment for stealthiness. Its a bit bare, but it does the job just fine. Remaining stock relays + my new headlight relays will be mounted on the back since they wont need any maintenance.
Tested a headlight and looks like it works. Only issue we are currently having is when u turn the car to ACC power the dash cluster does not light up. Need to go back and check on this, hopefully we didnt depin/toss a neccessary relay :O
