So I melted a resistor thing by the coil on my engine harness when I tried to fire up my 89 for the first time...I went ahead and ground everything I could as best I could to hopefully prevent this from happening again.

Anyways I bought a new dohc engine harness, but it had a bunch of cut wires and stuff....so I went ahead and fixed it cutting all the stuff off my old harness.

Anyways looking at the ecu plug (the blue one) the new harness has 52 wires going to it, whereas mine only has 48...any ideas?

I was going to cut my blue plug off my harness and solder it onto this one since it's in shitty shape...yeah I know soldering 50 some odd wires sucks..But yeah...any idea? Maybe he sent me an auto engine harness or something??

EDIT: yeah it's an 89 with a dohc s13 swap.

Check the FSM if you have access to one.

If you don't have access to one see the links in my signature.

before you cut anything or wire in anything you need to know and understand what exactly you're cutting/splicing...

before you cut and solder 50 wires....look at the plugs, wires, and wire colors and compare them.

then take pics and give us very detailed information of what is different between the two, if there are different color wires in the same locations, what wires the other one doesn't have and where they are.

that will help so we can let you know what you should do.

thank you,

Dave

I was stupid and cut all the wires and already spent hours looking at the wiring diagram and testing wires..they're all soldered on now. I have spark at all 4 cylinders, nothing melted either!!!111 But it won't start :( I have fuel too, so I'm going to mess with the dizzy and see if it's timing.

lol k, make sure your fuel lines aren't backwards too

best of luck,
