so i changed my oil, and after i put in new oil i went to start my car and it just cranks but wont start, so i started to see what was wrong, and i figured my fuel pump wasnt priming since i put the key in the II position and i didnt hear that hum, i checked the fuse and it didnt pop so im assuming the connections are good, i dont understand why it wouldnt work after an oil change, and im really stumped, how do you know if your fuel pump took a shit on itself and is dead? cause it was working fine before the oil change

help please!

UPDATE 2/28/10: i replaced the fuel pump with a new fuel pump from a local member her on zilvia, the fuel pump harness doesnt have pigtail so i couldnt simply just plug it in so i matched up all the wires accordingly, soldered them together and the fucking thing still wont prime, is it possible theres no connection going to the fuel pump when i turn my key to the II position ???

You can try to power it manually with a 12v battery. Try to hook up power to it directly from the connectors in your trunk. I forgot which two wires are the power and ground, but I'm sure you can find it if you search. If you hear the fuel pump work, then you know it's fine and that it's not getting power. If that's the case, you might want to check the fuel pump relay.

^^ cool! thanks ill try it tomorrow morning, im sure the ground is grounded to the chassis of course so that should be simple, ill post how it goes tomorrow

I THINK its Blue/Red stripe and soild White wire for the fuel pump.

Either search to make sure or pull the pump to verify

EDIT:
Another way to check for fuel is pull off the fuel feed line and try to prime it.

Mine took a crap on me 2 days before I needed to load it onto the car carrier 2 weeks ago. There was no warning sign of it going out. One night I tried to start it and it wouldn't start. It would just crank, and it too did not prime when the key is on the "on" position.

I changed it to a walbro fuel pump and it worked right away. I'm sure it is your fuel pump that went out, and if so, just change it to a walbro as they are around the same price as new oem ones, and you might as well upgrade now if you havent had one already.

However, it may also be just your relay. The relay should be the green relay in the fuse box. There are 2 green ones I think, and it should be the second one to the right.

Pull off fuel feed line
Turn key to "ON"
Fuel pump should prime
If not try to "START"
If still no go then check for power at fuel pump

okay i went out and tried to fix it, my wire harness is all chopped up from the previous owner so i didnt even wanna touch any wires, i found a loose wire under the fuel pump relay and soldered that together and it still wouldnt prime, im just gonna replace the pump cause so many wires on the fuel pump harness has been played with, if it still wont prime after the replacement then ill start messing with wires

Did u find out what the problem is? Im going threw the same thing. Im thinking it's the ecu. I changed the green fuse in the front box. The eng cont fuse poped, changed that with another good one and nothing, changed the pump for walbro and nothing. The only thing I can find on line is that the ecu is out. Sorry if im thread jacking. I dont want to buy another ecu if i dont have too.

I had the same problem... you guys probably arent getting power to your dizzy as well... Try this out... Run a wire from your battery to the relay by your ECU, it will click, and then your car will start... For some reason your not getting power everywhere. And then u will have got as far as i have haha... Cant seem to find this gremlin. But im sure u guys are having the same problem.

i have power in the front on both the fuse and the green relay. also have power in the back at the pump. just picked up an ecu a green label 61. going to try it out. my old ecu smells like an electrical burn.
