so i took the s13 to a shop and get it checked out and found out the ball joint is loose but they told me to replace the whole lower arm but im thinking to myself why replace the whole thing if i can just replace just the ball joint?
whats your opinion on this? and i was also looking at this moog ball joints and ive never heard of them but is it a legit ball joint?

Moog is as legit as it gets.
If what they are saying is true, then yes you need a new control arm. The ball joint isnt supposed to move around inside of the control arm. If it does the hole is too big, therefore it needs to be replaced. But if the balljoint is bad it will move around inside of itself and if thats the case then yes, you can replace just the ball joint. Get another shop to look at it if you feel like they are giving you the shaft.

As far as I know you can't buy a ball joint for the FLCA on a S13....they aren't sold. The entire control arm is only like $80 for both and it comes with new BJs and bushings.
FYI- Rear BJs can be replaced with BJs from a 89 Sentra FLCA. Moog makes some with grease zerks which is a nice stock replacement.

you can buy ball joints w/o the arm anywhere. they are two different parts.
