Is it just me or is it harder to shift, when racing, with the obx short shifter? What used to take me like a 1/4 of a second to do(shift from first to second) now takes me at least a 1/2 or more to do. The throw is definitely shorter and alot more precise, but harder for it to slide into gear. Which sux because it think its my shifting that gets me ahead of the pack. Anybody else experience this? Thanx. PR
well, I had mine come apart into 2 pieces a few days ago. I'm definitely getting a Nismo one-piece as soon as I find one.
As far as your problem, trying loosening the 4 bolts a bit on the square metal cover. Not too much though. Just test-drive it before you have the rubber boot and cover installed so that you can adjust until its right.

Mine came apart too, and I just super-glued the Biatch!!
Its ok now (hehe).
I have have the Nismo 1 peice and would have to say is a nice unit but is isnt as short as a throw as the OBX/PM SS. For the money im not sure what I would get again. My 2 piece PM SS came apart once but it never gave problems while I shift.
My Nismo SS was hard to shift for about 30 min. but then after I had driven it around for awhile it seemed to loosen up.
So........ I would suggest finding a way to make the 2 piece stick together, dont waste the money on the Nismo. Im just crazy and wanted nothing but the best for my car. But who the #### is really gonna care if I have a Nismo SS or a OBX\PM....

Don from pdm-racing did mention that on the yahoo groups 240SX mailing list. He said that the glue for attaching rear-view mirrors to the windshield works great and it will never come apart. He won't sell the Nismo because it is so high priced, though.

Sure sucks though when you pay for a new shifter and it breaks in half the first week. I shoulda just stayed with stock

96SEChick, Im not on that mailing list... I dont yahooooo.
Anyways I am gonna be installing my OBX this week, It hasnt gotten here yet so Im not exactly sure which pieces should be glued. Is this something that will be easily recognized when Im holding it in my hand or could you post some more info. I definitly want to do it right, the suggestion to drive the car a bit before putting the boot back on to make sure everything is as it should be will help out alot too.
Im gonna pick up some of that glue tomorrow so Ill have it when I do the install.
Any further info would be great help <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Glueing your shortshifter? That sounds really dodgy, what if it came off during a drive, that'd be dangerous!
Exactly. That's why I'm so pissed about mine. If I had known that they come apart that easy, I would've just stayed stock, or spent more money on the nismo

Trust me, glue it and it won't come off. Someone already said the Nismo wasn't short at all. Wait for the b&m if you like, but the obx is working fine for me now. Shorter throw is gooood.lol
