Ok, This is my first engine swap. I am getting an rb25det in my s14. Now I have some questions to ask you rb folks here on zilvia.net because after I get it done i want to get the best out of my car in handling and performance.
1.Why wider tires in the back than having the same width for all four?
2.Which would be better, manual rb or auto rb for drivers that arent use to manual or havent driven one.
3.Would I need a different exhaust system to fit on my car after swap?
4.Should i get an alignment after swap?
5.If not lowered, should i lower the car or is stock suspension ok with this engine?
6. What would i need for the car after the swap is complete?
Yes, alot of questions, but might be helpful for those who are going to do a swap aswell.:sadwavey:

Honestly, you probably have alot more to worry about than why wider tires and a different exhaust system in doing this swap.
Get in touch with a shop and be prepared to dole out a great deal of cash.

I spoke to tyler about it he says 5k for the whole swap that includes tranny, clutch pedal, engine and anything else.Plus what you do you mean by "you probably have alot more to worry about than why wider tires and a different exhaust system in doing this swap"

its a decent amount of work thats why there are many many things to worry about before that.
to answer your question about that topic... your stock wheel are fine, just dont expect much grip.
as for your exhaust system , your downpipe needs to be clocked to it aligns up with the your cat or test pipe.

In my honest opinion, just from asking question these questions I wouldn't recommend you try to do the engine swap yourself. But to answer your questions.
1. You run wider tires in the back which is also called a staggered set up because these cars are rear wheel drive. Unless your beast and your company name is FULL RACE. Then its usually going to be RWD. Tires are wider because its common sense. More tire on the ground = more grip.
2. I of course would prefer manual, I wouldn't even think about driving an automatic car unless its my daily.
3. You probably would need a different exhaust system but it depends. If your car still has a stock exhaust system, the piping is too small for what an RB would want. But if you have an after market exhaust system then it might be okay. You would probably have to modify the exhaust in the down pipe area.
4. You won't need an alignment as long as you don't touch the suspension, but I've never done an engine swap so I don't have if anything is touched within steering and such.
5. Since the RB is a lot heavier than say an SR or KA, I would of course run suspension with custom spring rates to compensate for the extra added weight. You are putting more power to a car and making it much faster, why settle for stock suspension.
6. I really don't know how to answer this question.. lol
AGAIN in my honest opinion if you are really asking these questions don't even think about trying to do the swap yourself lol. Hope I helped a bit.

Not to be a jerk, but if your asking such simple questions as why do I need wider tires and exhaust size ?'s and should I get a manual or auto tranny because Im not used to driving a manual....you really should not be attempting this swap...you will probably wrap your car around a telephone pole. Im not trying to ba a jerk but you need to do alot of homework and some more driving experience before doing this swap. Dont do it just because your friends or some shop are telling you to "Get an RB man it will be sweet!" If your KA is an auto first find a 5 speed tranny they are usually pretty cheap read up on how to swap it in and then get used to driving around a 5 speed. Practice downshifting and such at different speeds. Also driving a turbo-charged car is a lot different than an N/A. Just trying to help out man..Sorry if I have offended you :wan:

I would suggest buying an SR, its pretty much a drop in swap with very little custom fabrication needed. It will be a night and day difference between your N/A KA and would be a great platform to learn with, but then again you asked some really junior build questions, stuff that should not be being asked from someone who is looking to do an RB swap. Again Im not trying to offend you.

haha, no, fuck no man, 5spd on my ka when its over 154k and making noise. It aint worth it.Thats asking for the engine to "Please stfu and die". Plus, If i can drive an ls1 camaro, I can drive an rb 240sx.I know almost everyone on here has a better car than me. Thats because at the time when i wanted a 240, They all had over 200k and i dont trust a car with that must on them. My car is not a stock ka though? Its got bc cams, lightweight pulleys. If your saying n/a as in turboed then yea its an n/a.
