I was reading up on the lz20b earlier today and came across something interesting. They used to run gear drive timing (also common with 'merican rodders). In theory it's highly accurate, loud, and strong. Anyone ever seen this done to an SR or RB? If cost wasn't a reason not to do it, would it be worth messing around with? I can't even find another import engine that's running gear driven timing.

I don't want flaming about this is pointless, why?!, etc. Intelligent discussion please.

Hummm... I guess it's because they're were only single cam engine, and the cam was not located in the head, but in the engine bloc... With the venue of the OverHead Cams(single or dual), it was not possible anymore, or you would have a lot of gears, and would be pain for the timing, and would add a lot of moving weight in the engine.

I'm not sure of what i'm saying, but in my opinion, I prefer a timing chain with a DOHC than direct gear with a cam and pushrods... lol

it would be practically impossible and not offer any advantages.
