hey

i need some advise and opinions on some steering wheels for my S14...My interior is going to be done in a Silver/aluminum color and black...i want everything to look real clean, and not to overdone...Do you think a JDM S15 steering wheel or a MOMO Fighter steering wheel would look better?? How is the quality on the MOMO steering wheels? I know that i would need a adapter hub to fit the MOMO, would i need one for the S15, or is it completely bolt - on? Is there any advantages to aftermarket steering wheels like the MOMO Fighter?
If it just comes down to looks, what is your opinion on the S15 and the momo?? If you dont know what these steering wheels look like do a search on yahoo images...they should both be on there...
thanx

Momo is crappy quality. I bought a Momo Millennium way back when and it looks good in the pics but in reality they are made of cheap plastics. One advantage to a aftermarket wheel is they are smaller in diameter so there suppose to make it feel like you had a smaller steering ratio, but aftermarket wheels ive seen when compared to our cars aren't very much smaller in diameter.

West, I'm glad you said that, because I was really going to get a MOMO wheel in the next couple of weeks here... I REALLY love that nardi that comes in the miata, but I can't seem to find an aftermarket nardi wheels anywhere around that doesn't look like it would belong in a 70's model british convertible.

I've had a MOMO wheel in my Acura for 3 years now...it's great...good quality and still looking perfect. I have an s15 wheel in my 240, it's tight too...it has got a thick grip diameter which is great, you maintain the airbag (yet i can't figure it out), and it is nearly as small as the MOMO. I'd get the s15 just to have the added safety of the airbag.

Grant makes this really nice steering wheel that I like. Anyone know how the integrity of Grant is? Here's a pic of the wheel. You might like it DankS14.

Do you have cuise control buttons on your steering wheel? If so what are you going to do with them? Because I was thinking about changing my wheel but I didn't want to lose my cruise! Thanks:fruit:

i would personally go with the Nismo 330mm Leather. i wanted a s15 steering wheel to go wit s15 conversion but decided not to buy one. for the price u can get a Nismo one.

http://www.raretrick.com/store/images/products/6455_detail.jpg

it goes for $260..and u also need to buy a HUB which is ~60-75

Actually, that doesn't look bad and Grant has a good history with domestics, but I think the wheel itself is a little flashy personally.http://www.arekbrooklyn.com/ebay/sbl053/e31/h3sl003s.jpg

I do have my cruise controls on the wheel, I would take the controls off and mount them on the dash just above the button that turns it on and off, not a problem...

Your car has an air-bag equipped steering wheel, doesn't it? Are you OK with losing that? Your seatbelts are designed to work with the airbag. And if you have to do yearly safety inspections, you may have a problem passing with an aftermarket wheel. Just something to think about...

I have a 350mm Momo wheel. I think any smaller and it would be too small. Steering effort is increased slightly.

I personally really like my MOMO wheel. Looks great, is comfortable pretty much anywhere I put my hands. Great quality on mine.

It may depend on the model...

Dammit to hell, I want a nice steering wheel myself, and I love the look and feel of the nardi, having handled the one that comes in the miata, but of course could never find one for purchace that wasn't wood and chrome. I was going to get a MOMO, and still may, but I just don't know now. Lemme know if you happen across another nardi for sale.

Love the leather Nardi wheel in my Protege5... though the ricer in me wishes they put the actual Nardi logo on it like they do in the Miata and the JDM Familia Sport20 with the same wheel. :)

It's spoiling me and making the plastic base model wheel in my 240SX feel cheap. grrr... not another thing to buy! damnit!

Hey AKAdriver...I used to have a Protegé5! Nice to know there's at least someone who's in their right mind here...lol j/k people.

I don't have in now (couldn't make payments)...but it was a Black Mica '03 model...5-speed, no options. And yes, the steering wheel was/is damned comfortable. Not too big, fat rim, nice materials, superb quality, perfect in my opinion.

i had an old momo wheel and knob on my 16v rabbit back in the day, it was real close to the smallest montecarlo they offer now. both in red leather, and while they looked their age, they still felt great.

You're right, and I was having thoughts of riding down in the next few weeks to get some stuff too... Right now, I stand undecided, but I'm about to swap to 5-lug and get some new wheels also.
