WHAT:
Skullworks oil block adapter for the KADE and KAE engines

http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/599/finished04.jpg

http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/623/finished02.jpg

http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/9113/finished06.jpg

Due to popular demand we're postponing our current projects in order
to bring you another opportunity to get your hands on one of
the Skull and Bones (tm) oil blocks for KA engines.

These will allow you to:
- relocate your oil filter for ease of access
- run an oil cooler to protect your engine during track days
- run an oil feed line to your turbo on your KA-T project.

The material has already been delivered and we plan to begin
the manufacturing process this weekend.
From there we expect parts to be ready to ship within a month.

FEATURES:
- OEM fitment, bolts directly to the engine block
- CNC machined from billet 6061 Aerospace grade aluminum
- Hard anodized to prevent corrsion
- Double viton o-rings to seal the oil return neck
- 3 1/8-NPT ports for gagues (pressure, temp) and/or a turbo feed line
- 2 teflon coated steel plug
- Made with pride (and cheap beer) in the USA

PRICING & PAYMENTS:
The price for this Group Buy will remain the same as the original:
$145 including shipping and paypal fees.
$135 if you live in Socal and wan't to pick up.

Following the expiration of this group buy,
the remaining parts will be sold at $175 shipped and paypaled.

The units will ship via USPS Priority mail and will take roughly
3-5 business days to arrive.

paypal: stmaradona at yahoo dot com

please include your username in the paypal message with your payment.

where do you guys relocated the oil filter to, in order to use this part?

sxse240
01-24-2010, 05:59 PM
Mine is located on the passenger side frame rail ahead of the firewall. It's a great location, up out of the way, but super easy to get to for oil changes. I'm using this remote mount: Canton Racing remote filter mount. (http://www.cantonracingproducts.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=22-610) It's nice because you can run giant filters on it.

That's a good looking part
for a less a expensive alternative, I believe Summit carries a piece for ~$30.

Yes, we can do that
I'll PM you our info

update:

Got all the blocks through the 1st CNC phase
we only have 3 casualties (they're ugly but functional) that will work as set up pieces for the next 2 operations
cell phone picture is blurry but you can see the additional chamfers and RTV ring we added

http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/8269/oilblocks1stphase.jpg

we also started running the AN fittings on the NC lathe
got the setting down and got through 1/3 of the first operation

http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/2420/fitting1stoperation.jpg

time to go home.

they're going to be hard anodized this time around
we're leaning towards anodizing the fittings red

hard anodized 6061 looks like this:

sorry, but we're probably going to keep the ugly ones for ourselves
or close friends if they survive the next couple of set ups.

These adapter are nice! I bought mine on the very first group buy (I was #4 on the list) about a year ago. Since then, the adapters have been popping up everywhere with excellent results. I have used mine on a fully built NA DE Daily Driven with absolutely no leaks or problems whatsoever.

So if you plan to go turbo, run a relocated oil filter and or combined with a remoter oil cooler, buy the Skullworks oil block adapter!

This piece will not fail you.

Juan, I am opening a parts/tuner shop in Irwindale real soon and hope to have some of your products for display and stock. I'll get back to you when I am ready.

Nice, dry sumping a KA has always been something I've had in the back of
my mind
not too many people go this route
I'd like to see a build thread when you get going

the non-engraved ones are uber rare
they're from the prototype run and only a handful were made
it's a collectors item :ugh:

got the first block through the second CNC phase but they're too

I forgot to ask....are the IN/OUT fittings -8AN or -10AN? What straight thread is used with the -AN fittings? All of my current lines/fittings are -10AN, which is why I'm asking just in case I need to get an adapter fitting.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FRA-497310/

Either way is a great peice and I can't wait to bolt it up. Thanks.

They're both 8AN, so an 8AN female to 10AN male fitting it's all you would need to keep your current set up
the IN is the fitting where the 1/8 NPT ports tap into
(that way you take your temp and pressure reading from the oil going into the motor and also lets you feed clean oil to a turbo)

Update:
Been at the shop all weekend
got the blocks run through a couple of NC set ups
all that's left is the set up for the center return hole with the o-rings and de-burring
also ran all the fittings, just de-burring left on them
looking pretty good
depending how the last NC set up goes, we may have parts ready to go to anodizing
by the middle of the week
and start shipping the following week

time to go home and get some sleep before work tomorrow

Plenty of people already make a product that works fine for that application,

hurry! buy now!!
limited time offer!!!

joking, this time we decided to make more than the first run
so that we can have stock at hand for a while
so I don't anticipate running out any time soon
especially since the majority of the demand was satisfied the first time around

but

we are raising the price of them following the end of the group buy
so that's the incentive of buying now versus later

Just in case anyone else has -10 lines. All of my lines and fittings are -10 so I didn't want to change my lines to -8's. I have a lot of lines with the oil cooler and Accusump. I measured the center-to-center on the oil adapter block and found it is about 0.020" too narrow for -10's to fit side-by-side. Anyways I didn't want to cut 0.010" off the edges of each hex so I figured out that staggering them would work. I used one of the fittings that came with the block, one -10AN to -8 straight ORB adapter (Summit# EAR-AT985009ERL) and one -8AN to -10AN adapter (Summit# SUM220223-B). Hope this helps.

BTW - great oil adapter block Juan!

Hello ManoNegra,

Sorry to message you on a completely unrelated thread, however I was unsure how else to contact you.

I am running the driftworks geomaster knuckles on my car and would like to upgrade to spherical bearings on the rear. I was hoping you could supply these to me in the UK as I saw you fitted ' mmdb's ' s14a with them a while back.

I would be very grateful if you could email me information to hpunni(at)hotmail.com

Many thanks
Karan

Anybody know of an alternative to this, or a place to buy a similar piece?
