No stories here just cliff notes.

Pops drives my 93 240sx to pick up my sister from school

He ran into a huge puddle which was the driveway entrance to the school parking lot

Car dies right after he clears the driveway

Sister calls me and tells me the car died and won't start

I drive down there to find out car hydrolock!

anyways that is my rant! and like to know who else hates the rain right now.

ooo yea... this happened to my buddy's S13 yesterday... we were just trying to get back to my house, hit a huge puddle (which also happened to be by a school haha... damn schools...) and the car stoped about half a block later.... we managed to get lucky though. we got a break in the rain and flagged down my neighbor and he helped us dry up the car, took out the spark plugs to check for water, and push started it with success :Ownedd: (it wouldn't crank) hope your car is just as easy to get fixed... dry > flooding

You californians are spoiled pussies. I live in phoenix now, and whenever it rains everyone does 40mph on the freeways. I grew up in philadelphia where i used to drive 50mph on 45mph roads with 3 inches of snow........in my 91 coupe with blizzaks, and 100lbs of sand in the rear.

I miss the rain like you wouldn't believe. Rain all week?! AWESOME!

This is actually the most rain phoenix has seen in 1 week, since 1923. And it is awesome. The storm that nailed you guys today, will be here by morning and last all day friday. 5 days of rain, after 780 days of sunshine, is incredible. Get over it, and don't drive cars that are inches off the ground, through 12 inches of water. It is called common sense.

Something i have notice (3 years in the west), people lack.

I think this belongs in regional, since not many people, in any other state/region thinks its ok to drive through flooded roadways!

Ya know. Here in arizona we actually have a "STUPID MOTORIST LAW".

I kid you not. If you are dumb enough to try and cross a flooded road, and happen to get stuck. The county sends you a HUGE bill after they rescue you by helicopter, or boat. And pull your car/suv out..........

COMMON SENSE PEOPLE. COMMON SENSE.

Stupid Motorist Law - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stupid_Motorist_Law)

Arizona Stupid Motorist Law: Don’t Pay to Get Stuck in the Mud (http://www.arizona-vacation-planner.com/stupid-motorist-law.html)

"Barricaded road" means any low lying crossing, which bears signs warning not to cross if any water is present..........

The "Stupid Motorist Law", which corresponds to section 28-910 of the Arizona Revised Statutes, states that any motorist who becomes stranded after driving around barricades to enter a flooded stretch of roadway may be charged for the cost of his/her rescue.
The need for the law came from the lack of storm sewers in the deserts of the Southwestern United States and heavy rainfall in the desert, usually associated with the summer season. This lack of adequate drainage leads to short term flooding. results. Many desert cities and towns don't use culverts to channel minor washes (also known by the Spanish name arroyos) beneath the roadway. Only major washes and floodplains have bridges over them. Storm drains are spaced quite far apart when they are present at all. Consequently, during rain storms, storm runoff flows over the roadway. During hard, strong rain storms, the washes, underpasses, and areas around large storm drains can flow fast and deep enough to pick up an automobile and carry it downstream. During particularly strong floods, one might see a motorist stuck in the middle of a wash, sitting on the roof of a dead car submerged to the windows.
In such cases, if public emergency services (such as a fire department, or paramedics) are called to rescue the motorist and tow the vehicle out of danger, the cost of those services can be billed to the motorist.

Now this is the reason why I should of wrote a story. Now let me explain in details.

First my dad drove the car to go pick up my sis from school after I came back from work and getting the alignment done. I been driving the car all day doing work errans and same time testing the feel of the new alignment.

My car is 4X4 and bone stock to the fullest, except few days ago I got new seasonal tires mounted*getting ready for the rain* Now the driveway that my dad ran thru had a dip, a dip big enough to hide about 1 1/2' of water. Again he got stuck in the dip and the nose of the car is probably in the puddle, so estimate some part of the engine is drench in water.

He got thru by accelerating a lil hard, I guess at the same time sucking in ???who knows what amount of h20. Engine can't compress liquid, so it stops, cars dies, and you know the rest of the story.

Please don't tell me about your happy rants about going 40-50 mph on the freeway when its rainning where ever you were or are located. Yes, there are peeps who drive in the rain in their low cars and take chances..

:gives: THIS IS A F* YOU RAIN! THREAD.

P.S no ones cares about AZ NO MORON LAW, THIS IS CALIFORNIA HOMBRE!

They are illegal to have in your car, so basically if you get your hood popped and an officer finds out then he will send you to the state ref in which you will have to swap the engine, sell the car, or you can get lucky and tell the judge that you don't own the car anymore or something. Or you may even get lucky enough to get officers that don't know it's an illegal motor (being a stock SR, it does look normal). Basically you cannot pass smog (being in CA we have VERY strict smog regulations).

But as always, people find people and get it smogged illegally and keep the car registered and on the street

This rain is weaksauce. Our drainage system just sucks. In El Salvador where I'm from, storms are crazy. Now that's real rain. These "storms" have left me disappointed. Thabk God my filter is up in the nose panel. No hydro locking here :)
