Folks, we got it made!

I went out cruising tonight and I strickly adhear to not breaking traction and keeping within 7MPH of the speedlimit ( ) and I tell you...

A basic KA24 240 SX with the right driver can smoke close to anything out there in the zero to 50 realm.....IF you know how to drive.

Vette...Loud a$$ exaust. I did a soft 2nd, up to 20 and then laid into it, slipping the clutch to launch a 5700 tach into a 3800 tach (i/e 30 to 50 in 1 second). He was roasting tires, I was gone.

Ford focus with green wiper washer lights. He **** his pants...He was screeming his engine...on the floor, I was lugging in 3rd and pulling away hard.

LOL...

I guess all the ricers and the road demons are fired up about the movie and trying all us SR types.

It is phucking hillarious!!!!!!

Oh yea...

On I-95...everyone doing around 90MPH in left lane, me at 70 in the right,(4 lanes each direction) slow truck doing 45 in front of me. (I break my rules here) I have to swing into the center lane and jam on 4th, I get around him while all the guys doing 90+ are trying to get in the right lane to exit, I dominate the whole pack and had plenty of room to find a place and exit as well. ( I hit the gov at 115 is what brought me back down and it took seconds, not many seconds...wooooop...there, control, signal, exit, smell of lovely brake pads getting into the groove.

It must have looked so cool to have pulled out, got a fix on where I wanted to be up there, get there and slide in with room galore.

From what I have read and seen on the exaust pipe speed pulls, I no longer think my car is stock. Can't be with that much pull...or can it?

I got to look into this seriously.

Sorry about the typo edits.

Not bad for an old guy...

Solid as hell. Next light, cats were saying damn dude, how many turbos you have, 4??

Basic KA being drivin.

What did Nissan say? Driven.
Go [email protected]!!

Killer riding tonight.

Safe and secure. (took 3000 miles off the pads tonight though...but the engine loved it)

PS, sorry, I should have called this street stories, what did you do tonight??

Lets share (no towns please)

Sounds too fun..

Aww, I remember the days of falling in love with my 240. I've gone beyond that, and am now totally and helplessly addicted. :boink:

I can't wait to drive my baby again. She's on jackstand with no feet awaiting a 5-lug swap, new wheels, LSD, and z-brakes. Soon..

Can't wait to get back to the track. :D

Hi sykikchimp! The day will be here soon enough!

Quick question,

What it the real purpose for going with 5 lugs over 4?

Is it this:

More choice of nicer looking rims
Can use bigger brakes
More tire sizes ava.

Is that it?

I am curious if it would be something worthwhile in my forcast to do.

I really like my stock wheels and stock sized tires. The car feels real good even on the track. It will drift really nice, swinging the rear end around. It is not too sticky, but sticky enough.

I will mention this:

I experienced some brake fade last night  Smell them too.

Because he spent an a$$ load of money on some bada$s Nismo wheels. But you pretty much have it better selection of wheels plus all the sweetest offsets.

Plus since sykik is a track rat such as myself (or soon to be) he will be going through rotors and pads like crazy. So redrilling would be a PITA.

I honestly wasn't planning to go 5-lug. It's a mod that I always told myself I would have no need for.

BUT, the wheels I got, as nrcooled mentioned, turned out to be 5-lug only. The guy I bought them from lied. When I got them, they were so beautiful I just couldn't part with them.

Side benefits, are that it is easier, and cheaper when buying rotors for 300zx brakes if you are 5-lug (there is no such thing as a 4-lug 300zx), and of course the better wheel selection.

Having dealt with the craptastic brakes that are our stokers, I can tell you good brake fluid, and good pads make a world of difference. After upgrading the pads, fluid, and getting some SS brake lines, all is well. Not a hit of fade in 3 weekends of hot lapping at VIR and LMS. I am going to 300zx brakes b/c I will be running R-compounds at future events, and will be adding some turbo power to my baby one of these days. I will be needing the extra fade resistance. For street and light track days on good street tires, the stock brakes are fine, and are suprisingly easy to modulate when bled properly.
good fluid = ATE Super Blue, or Ford Heavy duty, etc..
Good pads = anything made by Carbotech, Cobalt, or Porterfield

PDM-racing has SS lines for $80 for a full set right now. Can't beat that anywhere. The stock rubber lnes suck. They allow for way too much expansion, and make it hard to modulate you brakes properly.

Hmmm, sounds like fun. No offense, but the Vette driver either wasn't trying or really sucks at driving. Theres no way a 240 can beat a Vette. As for the Focus, aren't they 0-60 in 8.9? He probably had a huge system, heavy kit, 19" rims, which make him run what 9.5, haha....

Didn't you used to own some old muscle cars like a Vette or somethin?

Actually Sundi240, The vette lost traction in a big way. He should have had his ASR (automatic slip regulation) on.

One trick to getting a real hole shot out of the 240SX with Regular SOHC KA24E is to take off in second...just ease into it up to about 20MPH (Like you are not racing) push the clutch in a little past half way and rev it to 5800 to 6200 and pull out on the clutch slowly (less than a second but close to a second of time) and you are doing 50 so fast the others don't know what hit them. Honestly, 30 to 50 is lightning quick and then by the time you are ready for 3rd, you back off because you don't want to top 60 in a run like that. You hit 3rd to jump to about 60...and it is over, you proved your point.

If you are taking off from a left turn light (Like I did with the Focus) I got about 25 in the apex of the turn and was doing well over 40 by the time I was straitened up...and on to 55MPH. You are gone. Next light....I approached it, he was also side by side and when I got down to 20 MPH, I was in 3rd, the dumbass shifted to first or maybe second, but was redlined, I just pulled away and left him.

Driving skill and knowing your ratios and knowing when to slip the hell out of your clutch is the key. IF they are on the floor and you walk away from them, and don't try to run to 100MPH, your point is proven.

Yea, no way if the vette had his ASR on and COULD DRIVE, would he have been so embarrased. Also on a high speed run, at 75 in 4th, you can pull that to 95 and 100 pretty quick, and the above 100 you need to go to 5th.

Again as I have stated, if you are going to do anything on the public streets, keep it under +7MPH of the speed limit and you are safe. Dont break traction. As far as the I95 thing, everyone that drives in South Florida knows that +120MPH is reached all the time on that road between Boca and FT Lauderdale but watch out for the FHP> I have seen cars doing 180MPH. No $hit. Usaually big bimmers and porsches. I personally know a bone stock New Vette will do 174.

The Corvette is the best bang for your buck in a new car.

A good used 94 or 95 with less than 40K miles is a steal right now...13 to 15K.

I would own one in a heartbeat but income wise, the 240 is for me, and I love the look and feel.

Seriously, the flow on I95 is above 80 most of the time. I keep to the right unless I need to make a move, then you have to get up to the flow rate at least. It is a very dangerious place to drive. You can easily be doning 95/100 and not really be passing that many cars. They run their A$$ off on the road.

Yep, I had a ZR-1 94 Vette. It could do a solid 12 second quarter. 7600RPM Redline, Power by Mercury Marine.

Heh... a few days ago I was about to break my "street rules" of driving safely when I spotted a Neon SRT-4... luckily (for him :p) he turned off before getting to a place where any fun could take place.

I have a semi-new street rule dont go past 70mph.... After being hit for 114.... 70 looks just fine.. Most the time I only race things I know I can beat..... Except this one time I was racing an Acura (I think (It was night)) I was pulling away slowly (You been there) then I hit the speed cut.... that blew. and he slowly passes (grrr)

It wasent much later that month that I got naild at 114 so.....

Take it from me... 4 days of court ALOT of stress and 480$$ aint worth the speed... (And stress being up to 1 YEAR in jail and like a 4k fine) Luckly I talked to them a few times and did some service and drivers school and they lessend it.. (Did I mention I was in traffic when I got naild?)

DON'T SPEED!!!! well not much.

In aug. of 2000 my friend and I were on or way back home(8 hour drive) and I got into it with a rustang 5.0 he had me one the power side of things but he couldn't drive for ****. Traffic was mild and I was making better moves then he was. Right when I got in front there was a chp on the side of the road. Got me at 107. Spent the night in jail with my buddy and the driver of the mustang. My poor car was in impound for 3 mounths:doh: The judge was an:mrmeph: $1375
and a *** beating from my dad later and I had my baby back.

don't get too cocky, Mr.FD... I've toasted a modded one from a roll (in my dad's lightly-modded 951, but still), and an SR 240 with a t# or bigger will eat you alive...

but a nice FD = NICE

Those SRT-4s have some wicked top end. Many of them dyno in at 225HP/255TQ stock... unlike what there advertised at

Good story Bill. Mine was not as successful as yours though. It was a V6 accord coupe, 2003 whatever. We were on 410 west bound and the phucker cut me off while we were going about 108mph. Then he started accelerating and I had my foot all the way down and in 5th but the 240 could not punch anymore to keep up, ending at 118mph off an access road after work about 12:25A.M. last night. I was about 2 cars length from him and he turned and I was like, oh well.:) Luckily it did not end in a bad way.
