I see a lot of threads being locked in the for sale forum. I also just bumped one of mine and realize that it'll most likely get locked as a result. :duh: And this got me thinking.
Another forum I visit has a for-sale section that doesn't send topics with new posts to the top of the forum. Basically, a seller makes a thread and it'll keep getting knocked down even when replies are added. The newer the thread, the higher up it is. Obviously, if the item has not sold, it can not be re-listed every day like on craigslist. I feel that makes a little more sense than this bumping nonsense we have going on. On that forum, when someone is looking for something particular, they simply search the for sale forum. They also allow users to lock their own threads once the item has sold so they are no longer bothered with questions or PMs. The system seems to work well and the for-sale section there moves almost equally as fast as the one here on Zilvia.
Just bringing it up as an alternative to having a full-time for-sale moderator locking threads left and right.
Your thoughts?
