i just recently looked at a black 89 base model coupe, chassis has 230K miles, it has some damage and rust on the driver's side rear quarter panel, the interior is in good condition but the dash lights don't work, the headlights don't always flip up or turn on, and apparently the rear passenger side brakes wear out prematurely...so as the topic states...how much would you pay

use those defects to your advantage at knocking the price down. say something like, "i can take it off your hands for $300", and work down from there.
it sound like a good starter carr for a project, FROM JUNK TO HUNK...lol

rust is fixable, dash light prolly fuses or short, bad or failing pistons on the calipers/ or faulty lines, and the motor, ah the prized KA, well the option is yours if you so choose to do so. flip ups could be motors, relay/short again, or sometimes, even foliage, jammed, or dead animals...j/k. All repairs would prolly run u anywhere from $500 to $1500 based on who performs the work and where u get the parts. if D.I.Y., then better for u and save some money, range would be in the low-end. sorry, i had to rant :rant2:

Yea, I agree with the other posters. Take what the car is worth fully functional and dent and rust (and leak) free and consider that, with that mileage at 1500 dollars. Subtract what it would cost you to make it right stock. You will find on the top side I would not want to give more than 500 for it...only because I have an SX and would like to have a parts supply...but damn those miles...and it is a 15 year old car. 15 winters, summers, springs and falls. Long time.

Frankly, that owner should give it to you. A junk yard would only give about 80 to 160 for it unless they have a buyer. Then no more than 200, to sell for 500, quick painless 300 dollar profit.

Don't get me wrong. I love 240SX's but damn, that car is over for any amount more than a few hundred at most.

Mileage. It has been to the damn moon for chriss sakes..

It is that bad.

Consider if you were not able to do the work yourself or have this board to consult with. You can drop 1000.00 easy into a 240SX just to make it roadworthy for a few months, with no mods.

Honestly.

heh, talk about a screw loose. If he sells it for that much, i'll be quite impressed.
