Found this 89 S13 coupe on Craigs list and was wondering if its worth to buy. It has a auto trans and has 181 XXX miles, clean title, runs, however will not move. He's selling it for $750. Has full exhaust, 2-way alarm ( needs new pager ), removable steering wheel, wired for sound system and sub (includes pioneer deck), injen intake, has HUD, front and rear strut bars, lower tie bar, gun metal rims, crack free dash, interior is excellent, has dent on passenger door that's not too bad.
Emailed the guy and he said the transmission might be out or just low on fluid.
Ive never owned a 240 before so I need some advice.

Sounds like an excellent platform for a nice build, if you have the funds at your disposal that is. Do you have pichurrs?

Sounds like a deal, but then again you don't really know what the condition of it is.
Also I don't know if you know how to work on cars let alone 240's since you've never owned one.
Let's say the engine and tranny is fucked, then you gotta spend about $1200 in parts and labor for a shop to do it for you.
Now you have basically invested $2k into a car that might have other problems later on.
I would suggest just saving or spending the extra money on a car that actually runs and you can enjoy rather than this car.
But that's just my opinion.
Take it as you will.

Here's pictures of it. I don't know to much about the mechanics of 240's, so how much would a new auto trans cost and where could I find one? I don't have much money or a job atm.

If you don't have a job or money why sink it into a car like a 240?
Where all you want to do is mod it.
Well first you have to get it running which you can't with no money.
240 is a money pit and if you don't have a job then you might purchase shitty knock off shit to put onto the car and that doesn't modify it necessary and at times just makes the car cheap.
Save your money and get a job.
Save $10k and then have a hobby.
Done deal. Trust me.

Id keep it fairly stock as it'd be a DD.
But I see where your coming from. Just didnt know if i should pass the car up or not.

Its a good deal for one of us 240 guys.
But getting a non running one and trying to solve the problem is hard for a beginer.
One of us older and 240 experienced guys could figure it out in 15 minutes and make sure the engines decent, but you cant.
so i would say no.
Plus, all the stuff you listed cost about $300 total off ebay and takes an afternoon to put in.

Exactly why I decided no against it. It would take to much time trying to figure out what exactly needs to be done.
Ill continue my search for a more reliable working 240.
Thanks for the help guys. :D

there is a forsale forum here....you can get a running 240 for less than 3k. I would start there. Projects aren't fun unless you have the funds to back em. Jack(azndoc) knows from experience.
