ok im just curious if anyone has done this. I have heard a few things about this so far. To my understanding since the actual front spring perch is welded to the strut you have to cut it off and order the coilover perches from ground control and weld them on yourself. This in turn voids the kyb warranty. So has anyone done or is there an easier way to do it. Please any info will help. This is just for the front on an 91 240sx coupe non abs.
Thanks,
Charles

he is talking about the so called "coilover kits" -- pretty much just springs and a height adjustable perch. do note that they're not true coilovers, but to the majority of riceboys who claim ownership of coils, thats what their talking about.

as for the original question. the best thing to do is call up ground control (assuming that is what you're planning to buy). I heard those guys are really helpful and knowledgeable.

Get the complete kit from ground control. That way, they should at least offer a warranty..

Hey Charles! how's the SR?
I have AGX's and GC's myself, true, you have to cut the spring perches off of the stock shocks grind them down, then put the GC sleeves over top... you shouldn't need any welding tho, in fact, you wouldn't want to mess with that I don't think. Welding a pressurized gas shock doesn't sound real safe to me :) It's not really that involved of a process. Took me 2 days, and only cuz I painted my AGX's after I did the grinding so they wouldn't rust. If warranty is an issue for you, get the pre-made ones from GC, I've talked to those guys a couple times, they're VERY nice and willing to help. You'll want to talk to them about the specific application of the coils so you get the right spring rate. One of them is a nissan specialist... I think his name was Paul? I forget.

On a side note... did you know there are some guys in Moscow starting a performance part store? I was pulling into Winco, and he pulls up next to me and asks me about my car (i forget the guy's name, but he has a red 89 hatch, said they're gearing up for a CA swap). I hope they get the ball rolling :)

Anyways, if you have any more questions bout Ground Control coils and AGX feel free to ask me ;)

:D I was doing a search on KYB and GC's and this came up. My question is about this set up for the S14, does it require the same modification to the KYB's??

you can either do the mod yourself or have them do it for you. i like the set up. for the price you are getting into the tein he area which come with pillow mounts.
i got GC cause i wanted to try them out. they are working great so far. i wish i got the pillow mounts at the same time..

What did you use to cut the spring perch off?
