I'm looking at a complete SR with Jim Wolf ecu and hks bov but it needs rod bearings put it. New race bearings are included and he wants 1000.. He said he shut the car off right when it went and that he checked the crank I'm gonna tear the oil pan off and check it out but would I be better off going with an sr20det off ebay or this one if it checks out? What's the worst that couldve happened to the motor when the bearings went?

I cant decide if I should spend the extra and go with the safer bet. He only wants 500 down and he'll drop the motor off tomorrow so I cant decide what to do. Sorry for the noob question but any input what be helpful. Should I just take it and check it out and if its messed up take it back?

Imo, if it's complete and local go for it. You can get a block for cheap. Ask him if he'll take the 500 down and 500 after you take it apart to find if it was just the "rod bearings." That said, you can find motor sets not much more than a grand.

Alright, yeah that's what I'm thinking of doing. Any other advice?

Well, if you're 21, I'm guessing you don't have the money and this is your only ride. Otherwise, you could have the head and block built while it's out. All depending on your goal with the motor ofcourse.
