This year's 240SX National Convention is on the verge of cancellation. Our two days at the Atlanta Motor Speedway require a deposit which is now past due, and at this time we have received very few payments. UNLESS WE GET MORE REGISTRATIONS A.S.A.P., WE WILL HAVE NO VENUE! It is our goal to make this event a great success and want to go forward with it, but we need your support. We assure you that all registrations will be returned should we not reach the deadline, however we hope that does not become neccesary. The deadlines have now been updated, and should we get enough registrations in time to have the convention then registration will be kept open for the rest of you hopeful attendees, but with an increased cost of $10 for General Admission, $20 for Autocross only, and $30 for track participation after May 5th.

Just a reminder for EVERYONE. Register with the hotel ASAP, they will be cutting off rooms quickly, and they'll begin to fill as soon as it gets closer.
Also, track spots are now beginning to fill, they are FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED. I'm not holding a spot for anyone. MAKE SURE to include which group you wish to run in also. Beginner, Intermmediate, or Advanced. This is very important for me to keep tabs on groups. If one fiils, we may have to move people around, but for now let me know your choice.

Yeah i think extending the deadline will help a bunch. Anyone who missed the first deadline is probably putting off paying until the very last minute. Now with an extended deadline, people should pay.

Yes, but waiting it out means no money to reserve the track. We need payments NOW to secure the deposit so we can even have a convention.

I am still trying to get all the arrangements squared away. I really want to go but don't want to pay and not be able to get to the ATL (also not get my money back) Once everything is figurered out you will have my money.

That's kind of low blow saying I wouldn't refund your money. If you couldn't make it there's no reason for me to 'steal' your money.

People, this opportunity to get on a national raceway with only S13/S14 die-hards is something you must take part of. A place to learn what works/what doesn't, put names to faces, etc.
Seriously, borrow money from family/friends and pay them back in installments. The essence of this convention is to meet each other. you can still enjoy the track or autocross b/c passengers are allowed (correct?).
Without you, we fail.

Now that you've leaked the info, tool. One of the sponsors has mentioned the possibilty of a vehicle, but there will be no definite answer until progress on it is updated. That's all I can say about it, because I'm in the dark too.
The deposit is nearly cleared, but we still need some more payments, after that the money needs to continue to roll in. The cutoff date for the hotel registration is NOT flexible, and I'll have a cutoff for payments posted up soon as well.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to go!! But... the fact is I dont know anyone! I hate going places where I dont know anyone at all. That and the fact that I still drive an eclipse. I would really like to meet someone a few days before the event and hitch a ride down there together for the 3 days. Hell... I'll even chip in for gas!! Common people, help a fellow 240 lover out. I dont weigh much...I dont take up alot of space... I live near atlanta.... and Im good at picking up chicks! :)

UPDATE on National Convention *please read*
Planning of the Convention is still going well, however we have yet to see anywhere near the proposed numbers for attendance. Numerous people have responded with stories about waiting for parts, needing to pay for other car-associated things, etc., and while I understand the desire to have your car 'ready' for this event, the readiness will be wasted if there is no event. I continue to urge everyone to realize we're closing in on just one month left, and it will go by in a blink. If you haven't registered yet, or are holding out for some reason, now is the time to do so. I'm not willing to cancel it this close to the date, nor am I willing to lose the money that I've invested thus far. Remember, this event is for YOU, the enthusiast. Making excuses at this late in the game is not a viable option anymore.
Due to the slow response, I have been forced to make a decision that I was not prepared to do. Ideally, I could just cancel the Sunday autocross and save money, however that would cheat those who have already paid and end the weekend early, which would be unfair to everyone involved, so I've decided to extend the invitation to the GA Z Club to participate as well. This seems to be the only way to increase revenue at this point, as I've done events with Z guys in the past and know that are more willing to pay for track and autocross time, and will be more forthcoming with both money and the interest to attend. I'm going to allot 15 spots to them for track usage at first, and if the demand increases they will be allowed more. In doing this, the available track spots will be filled faster, so if you're still interested in running your own car you need to prepare to make a payment soon. I'll be introducing the idea to the Z Club at their monthly meeting this Tuesday, July 1.
I'd also like to point out that the cutoff date for the hotel is July 19, and while I'd like to think they'd give us some leeway here, they had put two other parties on hold to accomodate our group, so once the deadline passes the remaining rooms will fill up quickly.
For those who have paid I continue to say thanks, and look forward to seeing you all in August. Again, any questions/concerns/comments can be sent to me directly at
