I did some searching and modified mag used Torco on their engine build, if this helps.

Would that make a difference? Isn't lube just lube? (not trying to be a smart ass, genuine question)

thats kinda where im at. I was told the red lube provided with say ARP components is garbage and has been the downfall in a few engines. Due to it being runny and the motor being started a few days after the lube being applied.
This is my first SOLO engine rebuild and its in my fiance's Daily driver. So im not trying to screw anything up. Thats why im asking this noob question.

Go to the local parts store, and pick up a bottle of Engine Assembly Lube.
Pick a brand that you feel you can trust. Royal Purple makes one. Lucas makes one. I'm sure there are plenty of others.

Nissan recommends engine oil (10w-30) for stock engine rebuilds on the cams, cam bolts and head bolts.
You do know the tq procedures for the head bolts and cam bolts?

Yes i know the sequence. Center out in a criss-cross pattern.
I just went to orielys and got some engine assembly lube.
My new issue is that i dont have a 10mm socket for my torque wrench for the cam cap bolts....bluh never ends

That's for the Head bolts. Cam Caps are the opposite. What about the Tq levels?

I just did the cam caps 1 turn past "tight" since i dont have a socket to fit my torque wrench and the 10mm bolts.

I don't advise to do this.
Cam cap bolts require very little torque ~14lbs or so from memory.
Get your hands on the FSM and follow proper torque procedures.
Trust me on this.

yah.. dont have a choice really. I figured 8lbs isnt much. So i got them snug and then did a slight half turn tighten.
Also this may be a dumb question but once the cams are installed and tightened down should they have any play in rotation? Mine i cannot spin no matter how hard i try either way. THis may be a good thing...they are in TDC "first lobe pointing away from center of head" on both sides.
