Saw the movie a while back, and I still cant get over it. The movie was redone in a different perspective with the introduction of Asuka (and her new plug suit:eek3:), Mari, unit 2.0 and Provisional Unit 05. Auska manages to show her affection for shinji, and Rei grows some emotion, not to mention shinji growing a pair himself in the last scene. The plot seems the same but I can honestly see a different ending, hopefully a positive one for the series. Got questions or topics: post them up. My friend macross frontier is nothing compared to the original macross: do you remember love, and the side story of macross: plus. Frontier is pretty much a recycled version of the plot, character, and mecha from those two animes right. Macross DYRL and Plus, thats the good shit. Frontier is the alternative of of a sentra and macross DYRL and Plus is the alternative of a s chassis or a skyline, just to give you a idea on what your missing out on.

Asuka is still "somewhat a bitch" (I like her that way:naughtyd:), BUT her feelings towards Shinji start to show through her unintentional personality and for the first time you actually see a side of Asuka you never get to see, same can be said for Rei. Mari is pretty much a new European pilot that gets her hands on the provisional unit 5 in the US and get this Asukas unit 2.

No seasons bro, actual movies, matter of fact 1.0 you are not alone and 2.0 you can (not) advance have actually played on the Hawaii independent film festival. GET THIS. Karou was shinji's last and only figment of a friend, I guess he became pretty attached to him, then again evangelion is a pretty abstract storyline so there is a double meaning behind the characters actions. Ive yet to understand that scene, theres a second meaning behind it, you just gota analyze it as if it was English literature: think of of the lines of lord of the flies.

Yes, read the thread. As of right now, the cam footage is all your going to get till the dvd release. Do your self a favor and watch the original series, the remake or rebuild is suppose to be a complemented presentation for the original viewers. Its like watching godfather 3 redone on the way it should have been, get my drift.

Remember the series is abstract, keep that mind set of them fighting after school, at this point the series is creating a environment for you to be attached to. The series will get more real as it advances.

Makes sense, I thought Rei had the same effect (also non threatening) but I forgot that episode with Kaworu I was brain dead trying to see the deeper meaning lol.

A couple of years ago something happened called the "second impact" where it was believed that a gaint metor crashed into Antartica. All the ice melted causing biological and economic disaster for the whole world. The United Nations gains alot of support and grows. They set up the "Nerv" organization (originally Gehirn) to make the Evas (kind of as a weapon to stop world conflicts and such). Nerv has centers in the North America, Europe, and Japan. Since the UN is really controlled by an illuminati group called "Seele" the true purpose of the Evangelions is not said until later in the series.

The lance was the lance that pierced Christ when he was crucified. The whole Adam thing is a spoiler. Evas and Eve are the same thing (IE Eve is prounounced as Eva in latin based languages), its also short for "Evangelion". I think in 1.0 that the Vatican had some control over Nerv. The angels I am unsure about.

The angels are attacking tokyo 3 because Nerv has adam at the Geofront (the underground colony). some one correct me if I have this wrong. If a angel comes on contact with Lilith it will initiate the third impact. Nerv in Germany under seele manufactured the 3rd unit,U.S did the 4th. It is also where askua previously resided at and trained at Germany hence why she is half German, before coming to Tokyo 3. Anymore questions?

I dont think were suppose to know where the angels came from. Plot wise it would make sense, think about, it would be more interesting that you dont know where they were from then to have them explain some crazy idea. but if I believe the angels are a abstract presentation of us Americans in WWII of how the Japanese viewed us "invaders", very out there! But hey its just speculationt I read about.

Ok, so I managed to rewatch the ending again, and I believe the last 5~10 minutes were suppose to be positive; meaning that shinji comes to terms with reality and decides to live his life then to become LCL in the pre evolutionary ocean and loose his identity. The fact that the world just got fucked over gave the idea/image that its a negative ending. Shinji was so traumatized by everything that he attempts to strangle asuka, and before he succeeds she creases her hands on his face giving him a sense of "sympathy" or emotional condolence that she too feels his pain. Correct me if I got this wrong

Ok, so I managed to rewatch the ending again, and I believe the last 5~10 minutes were suppose to be positive; meaning that shinji comes to terms with reality and decides to live his life then to become LCL in the pre evolutionary ocean and loose his identity. The fact that the world just got fucked over gave the idea/image that its a negative ending. Shinji was so traumatized by everything that he attempts to strangle asuka, and before he succeeds she creases her hands on his face giving him a sense of "sympathy" or emotional condolence that she too feels his pain. Correct me if I got this wrong

right................evangelion would be nothing without Asuka, the bitchy yet sexy attitude, the red skin tight plug suit. HELL I sometimes wish I painted my coupe red. None the less Mari is defintley my second favorite character, her orginal plug suit was pretty sick as opposed to the pink one. Her whole involvement in the plot has me questioning the outcome of the series. Props for the pics, appreciate it bro.

That’s one perspective, I was the same way when I first saw the movie, I was freaking out like if I was a vet reliving a flash back from Vietnam. But I remember watching it again and understanding it. It makes sense because it doesn’t make sense! I gaurantee your going to watch the movie again and try to figure out. Shinjis whole mental break down has to do with the directors break down too at the time. I dont know about you, but the story/plot began to get more intresting when the characters got there mental break downs.

I honestly think seele is in some way part of the angels. I mean there whole agenda with turning mankind into a single orgasm: an ocean of LCL sounds pretty out there. By that point I didn’t know who was who. But keeping the whole backstory with the angels discret benefited the plot.

this shit brings me back. this is what the internet thought of NGE back in the 90s. maybe you young kids got new interpretations. but here we go:

there are three versions of the third impact that are possible.

#1 one of the angels merge with adam. the common explanation here is typically mankind being passed over for ascension in favor of the successful angel (hence the angels being failed-alternate life form comment in the tv show), or each person being adjudged based on his own merits. this version of the impact basically never happens.

#2 seele wants to avoid scenario #1 as they are, um, bad, and won't go to whatever good place exists in the eva universe if they are judged as individuals. they want to capitalize on the fact that mankind is generally 'good.' thus, seele wants to initiate the third impact where all people are merged into a single being (instrumentality/complementation project). as a result, mankind (which is good as a whole) is judged as a whole and seele gets to go to the good place.
-(one old theory from the 90s is that the leader of seele is the "wandering jew," hence the mechanical bits you see leftover by him when he turns into LCL. we took this to imply life extension to delay death and damnation.)

#3 someone else initiates the third impact. in the two endings we have so far (tv show and first set of movies), gendou tries, but is passed over in favor of shinji. shinji gets to decide what happens because he has completed the sephirothic tree of life, and him + eva-01 awakened is equivalent to god. gendou doesn't care what happens to everyone else... complementation or not, he just wants to see yui. shinji is of course clueless and figures out what he wants after it happens.

the movie ending differs from the tv show ending. in the tv show shinji chooses complementation and is happy and well adjusted ('congratulations'). in the movie shinji chooses to emerge from the sea of LCL and is rather maladjusted (strangling asuka). not sure if he forced asuka out or if asuka also chose to come out. either way, the movie ending perfects the title "new genesis" quite literally. the tv show ending perfects it more symbolically.

What are your thoughts on the anime and death&rebirth endings compared to End of Evangelion. Are they the same or completly different? IMO it could be

1. Anime and Death&Rebirth was what was going on in Shinji's head while the EOE was what was going on physically.
2. In the Anime and Death&Rebirth endings Shinji accepts instrumentality and in EOE Shinji rejects instumentality.

The first time I saw EOE, I couldn't get over the chocking of the chicken, and of asuka. I was like "shit this cant be happening, its a [email protected][email protected] anime for gods sake, but hey they never do this". I saw it the second time and it all made sense. I didnt so much like the ending but I understood it, and accepted it. And I will even say it was a good ending, this coming from a differnt perspecitive. I liked the whole adam and eve concept towards the end. And how Asuka showed her condolence on Shinji's last step of insanity. But the ending didnt leave so much of a conclusion, you kinda had to figure it out on your own.

Only for this to happen:
The recently opened Evangelion themed Lawson store has been shut after mere days thanks to a vast horde of young people overwhelming the store.
The event was supposed to last a month but was cancelled after mere days, a victim of its own popularity.
Insufficient parking, excessive noise, too many visitors and the likelihood of even more visitors come Golden Week were given as reasons for the cancellation, with Lawson particularly concerned at the disruption to local residents caused by the huge influx of young adults. Lawson is too polite to mention it, but there is some suspicion visitors were behaving in an inconsiderate fashion.
Lawson probably have themselves to blame for this – their theming was rather good, and the store they chose for the event turned out to be a tiny rural store in the middle of nowhere and barely accessible – hardly the appropriate venue a promotion involving a huge franchise like Evangelion.
There is no word from Lawson as to whether they will restart the event later under better conditions – the level of interest rather suggests a permanent store could be maintained.

Evangelion tries to slip between that line of science, psychology and religion. The concept and theme of creationism is usually depicted through the means of science (technology), religion (God and his creatures), and man (father, mother, & child). Anno is very abstract in his themes, but remember the end of evangelion technically had a positive ending. Will there be a mind fuck: YES, But I have good reason to that there will be a good ending. Keep in mind that the director or creator of evangelion (Anno) went through a mental dilemma among bankruptcy, you can kind of see how that influenced the series and ending. I am sure things will be different this
time around.

I on the other hand need to dedicated time in watching the series lol, work has me by the neck lol. -dead
