It's a S14 SR20DE (non turbo) in a 1989 240sx, will not rev past 5000 rpm in any gear including nuetral. I even uploaded a youtube video..
I'm thinking its the 5 speed sensor on the transmission but I want everyone elses opinions before I go all willy nilly climbing up underneath the car...

I dont think it is the speed sensor seeing it happens in nuetral as well, nothings is going on with it down there.
Were there any thing else that you seen/heard leading to this problem?
Or was it just a random time you started the car and it happened.

oh yea.. i think its pretty bad ass also...
hey s0apgun, its a z32 maf, im thinking about putting on a single cam maf just to see if that works instead... because the problem did start when it would only rev to 3000 and somehow it just started to go up to 5000 and if u notice in the video it holds steady at 5000 doesnt cut out or anything...
RPS13nutt, the only reason why i thought it was the 5th gear sensor was because i think the speed limiter kicks in at 5000 in that gear but since the problem was in nuetral also thats what had me so iffy about it being the problem or not

my friend had a similar issue on his ka24de just recently and we just replaced his maf. it ran fine as soon as the new maf was in

Can you push the pedal all the way in or does it stop before its supposed to?

it goes to the floor... even at the throttle cable...
the problem was the car is using a z32 maf without being tuned, switched maf to the sr oem maf and the car runs fine.. thanks
