So...I recently came across an ad(i've been looking to buy a car for a while now) for a car that i think is what i want. There is only one problem. The car has a swapped in rb25det(not because i don't want that engine actually its what i was looking for) and the wiring is according to the current owner only 80% finished or so. He says that things like the gauge cluster aren't working. He also says that the alternator doesn't charge the battery. Now I have yet to drive the car. But I was wondering, are these things easy to fix? Keep in mind that he also mentioned something about a bunch of wiring sticking out around the passenger kick panel. Also would it be cost effective to get the car and then buy an after market harness for it? Are there even companies that sell harness's for it that are plug and play so to speak?

Basically I'm looking for more information (as if anyone reading this couldn't tell). So any information anyone has would be nice.

He wants 3500 for the car and I'm not sure what the body condition is.

Its hard for anyone to say in ur situation. None of us know if the wiring was done correctly "for example" the wireing is ran but he is to lazy to hook everything up *lots of up and down and under, in the car" or is the harness not complete? did he "ghetto" wire the car just to get it to run so that he can drift it or something? To many unspoken variables that a seller will never tell you.

MY advice is to buy a rolling shell , if you want a rb25 ...drop a rb25 in there yourself. Then you know the wireing is done correctly and you learn alot about your vehicle in the process, getting a 240 with a rb swap already done chances are it isnt done right , you will either total it or blow it up. Or ruin the electrical system trying to fix his ghetto wireing. Just my O2

Lessons learned. Don't buy a car that's not working if You do not know the basics of car repair. Especially if its got an RB lol.

but, all engines are the same, more or less. Alternators too. Take the alternator to some place like autozone and find out if its good or not.

When you have a technical question, then maybe some people can help answer it. You will learn real quick or start selling off parts. Either way wish you the best!
