Ok, so I just flew into corpus christi friday and bought an SR swapped s13. I drive from corpus christi back home to stl MO, and the car ran great other than when I hit Austin traffic it died once, probably my fault, but I pushed the clutch all the way in and was in neutral, and the rpms normally idled at 1-1500 but they completely dropped to 0 and the car died but started right back up. Didn't treat her bad on the way home, just a little playing but never full throttle, now I'm home and I figured I'd get on it see exactly what she would do, when I get to higher rpms through almost all the gears and boost kicks in the turbo sputters and the car backfires, and I'm still having the problem of the rpms completely dropping to 0 and dieing when I get to a stop, doesn't do it everytime but sometimes it gets close to dieing and comes back to normal idle at a stop before dieing. Any ideas? Really hope I didn't mess anything up driving back home.

If you have aftermarket bov on the car that vents to atmosphere, rpm dropping at idle or sometime dies is what usually happens unless you either tune the bov/idle so that engine does not completely dies or you tune it out with aftermarket fuel management system.
You best describe the amount of mods on the car to pinpoint the possible cause for the sputtering / backfire issue at high rpm.

^what he said or a possible boost/vacuum leak...

clean out your IACV with some carb cleaner and you should be good to go. also phase2 is correct about your BOV venting to the atmosphere. see if you can recirc it

Does the bucking and sputtering only happens under boost or it would also happen if you slowly take your rpm up without positive boost pressure?

only happens under higher acceleration when the positive boost is kicking in

You might have a boost leak , maybe through the BOV if your SSQV is ancient old (remove it and test with a pipe instead) or check the spark plugs/ignition area. Make sure your base fuel pressure is also set at 37-40psi at idle with vacuum hose attached.
