View Full Version : Idling problems poor A/F ratio
Hello everyone!
Please excuse my bad English....
So as the title says I am having some problems.
My car was running fine but one day it starts to idle very bad.Cold start is ok but when its warm the idle bounces from 200 to 800 rpm a few times and then it dies, also when driving without any load at around 2900rpm it dies for a second and than its coming back to life....also my A/F ratio at full load is around 14.5-15.0 (highest ratio i have seen after those troubles was 13.5).
I am assuming that my tps went bad...any ideas?
1998 sr20det s14 with emanage ultimate z32 maf 1.2 bar boost stock turbo.
Thanks allot and sorry again for the crappy english

Does anyone else find it amazing that this guy is from Greece and thinks he has "crappy" English, and yet his grammar and English is pretty much perfect?
..........better than at least 50% of the people on here, who are presumably Americans that should use English as their first language?
That TRULY speaks volume for what our country is becoming.
Maybe IACV is acting up (dying under no load)....any more specific details about what is going wrong?
Thanks for your kind words!
I am trying to run with a greddy map sensor so when I started to set my ecu it suddenly
does those weird things!
the maps are still the same as before everything is set to run with tps that's why i am assuming that the tps is bad...
ps I am still running with maf...

So the Emanage is set up to run off of the MAF sensor right?
Why did you install a MAP sensor....?
Is that ECU capable of handling either one?
If you are trying to program the ECU on your own, then there is no reason that switching over from MAF to MAP will ever get the car to run very well unless it has a pre-loaded data in there for a MAP setup.
Please be more specific about the ECU setup...maybe we can help
The emanage is set to run with the maf sensor.
My maps are the same as before and the car was running fine.
So i/j adjustment map is set on tps same as the ignition adj.map and the acceleration i/j map.I also clamped the maf sensor on the boost limiter cut setting.Everything is set as before(I saved it)but the car does those "things".
The emu is capable to run with a map sensor but what I didn't knew was that i need to plug my wideband into the emu to run the a/f target map.The problem is that here in Greece is nobody capable to set the emu....
How can I figure out if my tps is gone bad?
Any ideas?Ineed to fix that thing...!
well i managed to fix the idling problems and run the car without maf but it runs like crap!
does anyone have any knowledge on the EMU to help me out?

Sorry man, I don't know Emanage.....can you summarize the problems, and what you changed since then.
It seems you had a working setup that all of a sudden started running lean....
Before you were running Emanage with a MAF setup.
What have you changed, what are the symptoms now?
well somehow the i/j lag time was changed so i corrected it and car runs fine with maf.
So i took a ride and and sampled a map for the pressure sensor. It is a parameter of the EMU and it samples maf voltage for the pressure sensor map, than i unplugged the maf,car started but it backfires idles badly and in general it runs like sh...t.I think i am gonna give up the whole map sensor thing!I've had enough!
