Well I was incredibly bored and incredibly awake come 1:45 am this morning so i decided to go for a drive. The bad part was that it was a little wet outside so no warp speed, but i did do some controlled slides. Pretty fun ****. I think my d60 A2 that were supposed to last the rest of the summer won't make it, but who cares. I got the car sideways plenty, i didn't like the sensation of the car snapping back into place though. Does anybody think that the KYB AGX's i want to get will improve things so i have more of a fluid skid? Any advice is welcome

smoother throttle and smoother steering will cure that.

edit: also please be careful in the rain + residential areas.. try to do it in large empty places.

What do u mean by smoother steering. All i know was that while in the skid. i was trying to go with the spin. I don't really recall how smooth it was though. And by the way, i wasn't in a residential area, i like my drifting in the industrial park at around 2 am hehehe

From what i experienced trying to drift in rain is keep your wheels spinning at all times and slowly turn the wheel. Its really smooth once you get the hang of it. You need an lsd, which gives a better drift since both wheels have traction.

What you experienced was "snap oversteer" It is from the weight transfer of the car not being immediate and when the a$s of the car is out and you are sliding sideways eventually the weight (center of ballence) will catch up and cause the car to continue in the path that the backend is traveling.

If you upgrade springs and shocks to stiffen the car weight transfer will be more immediate and allow the car to be more controllable due to the fact that the weight shift won't be as severe. I don't drift but I find the rearend is much more controllable w/ my current setup. KYB AGXs and HKS kg/mm springs.

[Public Service Announcement] Please do not drift in public residential areas. As much as you are not expecting anyone to be out at 1:45AM they are really not expecting someone to be drifting at 1:45AM

Be careful and use good judgement[/Public Service Announcement]

I would hope that he already knew about safe driving. Yes the LSD will surely help and so would the suspension upgrade but more practice in a safe place would help you greatly benefit from. Curbs, in the learning stage, are your worst enemies.

P.S. watch out for skaters in the non-residential areas. They play late at night in my area and can be hard to spot when driving.

true true... nothing worse than that pesky curb rash, hell even in minor cases you're lucky to just have to replace a rim:( (i did)
